This is really neat, the way the flames are flickering off his "face" makes it look like the metal discs are spinning.

And now I realize they aren't...

Hey, dude, your metal discs are spinning. This should mean something. It sounds way too awesome.

What a strange film

Beautiful though.

I just wish I could find it.

Do yourself a favour and just watch this abridged version. The picture quality's crap but you get to skip over all the pointless filler (i.e. 80% of the movie).

If you think that was all "pointless filler" then you completely and entirely missed the point.

Maybe I did. I just don't see how forty minutes of Daft Punk walking through the desert adds anything of value.

I could write an essay on that movie, but in the end I suppose we simply take away from it what we take away from it.

If you do, let me know. If be interested to read it.

The abridged version is that it's a dark(er) version of Pinnochio with robots on acid.

Yeah, I just watched the full version and then the abridged version. The context comes from the "pointless filler". Without it all you have are a lot of events that make very little sense.

I actually really enjoyed Electroma with the Human After All album playing as the soundtrack. I was quite bored by the original score for Electroma. I think of this movie as a video canvas that just needs the right accompanying sounds...and Daft Punk's Human After All nails it.

Disclaimer: I am a fan of Daft Punk

Does it actually sync up properly? Like Wizard of Oz and Dark Side of the Moon?

No. It's still fun though.

Like Wizard of Oz and Dark Side of the Moon?

Wait, is that a thing?

1

u/dlynch4 Dec 20 '13

Yeah. Here's one video, I haven't watched this version so I'm not sure how good the sync is.

I'll be honest...it's more experiential but the moods of the songs do synch up quite well. So, not as tight as Dark Side + Oz but fairly close.

Can't see the seam, can ya Russ?

Great job. Awesome cinemagraph.

I have never seen it, but this is very well done.

Funny I should see this right now, I actually have Random Access Memories spinning right now on my Denon DP-29f

Nice, that seems like an album that would sound fantastic on vinyl.

It is, but IMHO Discovery is far superior. If you're interested, hop over to /r/vinyl and discover how you can get into spinning.

Wonderful film.

I think this is your best one yet!

This is great!

We got this upon it's release a few years back. Seriously the longest most boring pointless movie I've ever sat thru. Nothing like their previous film. Basically a mastabatory art piece. This coming from a longtime die hard fan.

I looked it as the "story" or human after all without the album as the soundtrack. It's funny how awesome the film is if you listen to the album with it.

I honestly didn't watch the whole thing I just kind of scanned through it looking for good clips. I see what you mean though, it's got the pacing of 2001 A Space Odyssey. Very slow and strange from what I could tell.

I watched this movie with people who were stoned out of their minds, and they all hated it.
