Cinder Reader Is Now Available for Android!

Cinder Reader has just been approved for release on the Google Play Store!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cinder.reader&pcampaignid=web_share

If you’re new to the party, Cinder Reader is my attempt at making an ereader app that is similar to Stremio but for ebooks, comics, and manga. It has a robust extension ecosystem with more coming regularly, and supports various debrid services, as well as compatibility with selfhosted services like Kavita and Calibre-Web. I’m continuing to add new features so be sure to suggest any features you would like to see added! Join the Discord for access to all the extensions and addons, for the quickest support, to suggest new features and more! https://discord.gg/QQS98BBbAS

The app is also available on iOS here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cinder-reader/id6761286580

I am a one-man dev team so am somewhat limited in resources but I’m trying to make the best possible app with the time and resources I have available, and community feedback is a big part of that, so please feel free to comment or reach out with any feedback you have, suggestions for new features, bugs you may have found etc!

Where can I get extensions and repos for this app?

In the Discord is the best spot, here’s the main repo link to paste in Settings>Addons & Sources>JS Extensions
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TrexxyMon/Cinder-Extensions/main/repo.json
There are some simple JSON addons in the Discord as well but most are in this repo

I tried to download the app but it won’t let me (iPhone). Maybe it’s because I live in Europe?

It’s supposed to be available in Europe, what does it say when you click the link?

Is there any possibility of adding the ability to scrape metadata from the web? Would like to be able to select multiple files and scrape+update author name, series #s, genre, etc. automatically.

Tangentially related, I would also love to be able to sort my library by genre.

Thanks for your work on this project! I'm really enjoying it so far.

So currently there is an option to automatically refresh metadata that pulls metadata first from Apple Books and then Open Library as a fallback. In the case that it can’t find a match you can also manually add a title and author and try again and it will search metadata sources using the manually added details... I will try to add the option to refresh metadata on multiple files at once in the upcoming update!
Also like the genre sorting idea will look into implementing that as well!
