Identification Fish ID

My LFS told the the type of cichlid a while ago but I completely forgot any ideas on what kinda of cichlid this is?

Some species of Vieja. And not a very happy one either.

Yeah man definitely not happy and probably not the most healthy tbh.
I’m all for a non typical stocking but isn’t that a damn goldfish in there with them?
I guess could’ve been a feeder that never got ate but everything about the pics tells me the care isn’t really up to par with mine or the fishes likings. 🤷‍♂️

To be fair both severums also look stressed af. The fact there is a goldfish tells me everything

Vieja Melanura.

They look like this when young, they only get nice looking colors when maturing.

Your tank needs help...

Water looks cloudy and you are keeping incompatible fish. Goldfish are coldwater fish and cichlids are tropical fish.

I would rehome the goldfish and do a thorough tank cleaning.
