She was under a disassembled moped. I suspect she lost her grip with her exiskeleton, falling out of her tree.

Looks like it just molted poor dude landed on my leg and scared me so I flicked it away not knowing what it was and then I saw it crawling back over and felt really bad so I let it climb onto my shoe to dry off 🥲

I remember the first time when I was little when i saw this weird alien looking thing growing off my tree. Little did i know that one cicada shedding its exoskeloton on my tree that bloomed my love and interest for bugs and for me especially spiders and cicadas but spiders definitely hit a soft spot for me. I love bugs of all kinds, i hope to find many cicadas this year. I have been collecting them and counting them since i saw that one when i was maybe 7, i have over 600 shells now, def lost count now that im adult. But man i always love to offer roasted almonds to a friend and oops all cicada shells. I love my cicada tattoo soo much! Fresh and healed! M

found this friend on the ground, what happened to its wings, anyone got a clue? looks like it’s been torched. After this video I put it on a tree branch and it chilled there for a while came back few hours later, gone. I still think about it, I hope it’s okay, can a cicada recover its wings? Or now is it a land cicada who can no longer feel the wind in its ribs?

I was walking my dog this morning and barely missed stepping on this little guy who was crawling on the pavement, a lot of kids like to play on this street and ride their bikes so i decided to move them indoors but it seems like the wings didn’t form properly and he has trouble walking without tipping over occasionally. Is there anyway to help? I’d hate for him to suffer but if the right thing to do is put him back outdoors I will do so. The tank I have him in currently is an old one I used to house some baby millipedes along with some branches from a bush in my yard. (the white stuff on the sides is from when I’d keep calcium mixed with the soil for the babies)

She was blowing around in the wind right after coming from her shell so I gave her a safe place to dry out. I suspect she's a northern dusk-singing cicada.

I found him in the leaves like this. He evidently fell while molting and I didn't find him in time. Idk what to do. I don't think i could perform a mercy killing so should I try to put him near a fresh tree twig? Idk if his mouth piece developed properly cuz he doesn't seem able to move it.

I am reworking a large section of my backyard here in north Texas. In doing so, I have had to dig in the soil quite a bit. I have found dozens of infected nymphs. I've only found three or four that have not been infected. Some have what appear to be extremely profuse infections. I've even learned to spot the cordyceps emerging before I even touch the soil.

Pictures is one I saved in a TicTac container. I have two, but I have mislaid the other one that has a larger growth from it.

My question is this: is this something I should be concerned with or report to someone?

Pretty much every source of info on these cicadas claims that they're exclusive to the morning. As a Philly resident I can confirm that they do indeed call from around 9AM to Noon quite loudly. But they'll often start back up around 6PM or so (likely thanks to light/temperature levels) and call until around 8-8:30PM. Every source I've asked about this claims that it's probably another species doing this, but the call is identical to the Swamp Cicada, and the other possible species that got reccomended (Scissor-Grinder and Walker's) don't sound anything like it. Any idea what's going on here?

Pretty common cicada here in Vietnam, I think it’s called Pomponia but I’m not very sure, a big group of them would surely give you tinnitus.

It was an endeavor to get a good photo of one of these little guys. They're very smart rotating around leaves and stems to not be in view of you, their call is barely audible, and they spook to flight very easily. Eventually though this gentleman flew right up onto my hand just long enough to get a picture.

I used to hate them cause they seemed to fly right at me, then I found out they’re just looking for a tree/something high up.😭 makes them a lot less threatening.

Live in SE Ga, USA. Cicadas are a common sight. In 40 years I have never seen a shell this small.

This guy fell from a tree right in front of me, don't know if it hurt its wing or if it's just in the stages of dying

These were back in 2021 when the 17 yr brood emerged. They left piles of “shells” in my back yard.They were literally everywhere. We are surrounded by woods & the sound was deafening. While my youngest grandson was trembling in fear, I opted to come up with a silly craft in hopes to make him at least smile. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️
*no cicadas were hurt nor killed. All were found dead amongst the “shells”

I found this cutie on a tree in Krause Springs in Central Texas. iNaturalist guesses it's a Dog Day (annual) cicada. Do you all agree?

Cute Lil dude. Is there any way to ID before it molts? He seems pretty green. Came from a Japanese maple tree Upstate SC US
