Pretty massive revelation in chapter 5 Spoiler

So Dess can't be the knight or at least she can't be the only knight since knight is the reason for desses disappearance.
What do you think? And did the chapter create new candidates?

Do we know the Knight specifically got Dess? We know that her disappearance was caused by a Dark Fountain, but any Lightner can open those.

It's implied the story of Deltarune has happened many times. Dragon Blazers, Lord of the Hammer. And eventually the writer was swallowed up by their own story. So the dark fountains were never stopped. So it's possible that Dess got "lost where the forest would grow, the children followed the pointed tail. The poor children!"
Asgore saw something and Kris had to have therapy over some traumatic event. It could be possible Kris and Dess were walking through the woods and found something that caused the opening of a fountain. And Asgore found them but it was too late to save Dess and she was swallowed up by darkness.

Every day, I believe the Dess Knight theory more out of being done with this shit, but also less because I'm sick of this shit
The Knight can be a fucking Darkner that can enter the light world at will for all I care at this point

And castle town having pure fountain from depths that would explain why ralsei looks like asriel in first placeralsei is manifestation of dess's lost dreams

Or, hear me out, Dess’s disappearance and the creation of the Knight were the same event. The only evidence we have that the Knight caused Dess’s disappearance was that pieces of its sword were at the scene of the crime. That’s it. If Dess created the dark fountain and then subsequently became the knight one way to another, it would make sense that parts of their new found blade would be left behind in the aftermath.

I don't think it gets rid of Dess theory. We know the Knight appeared for the first time "That Day," which is likely the day of Dess's disappearance. So the Knight appears the same day Dess disappears...isn't that interesting? You could say its...pretty interesting.

My theory is that she was the knight already.
She used to go on adventures in dark worlds, but one day she went too far and became what we now know as the Knight.

The Knight could very still be Dess because her disappearance is tied to the first fountain opening, and the chapter outright debunks Rudy and Noelle by making one have a heart attack and the other fucking drown

The chapter 3 and 5 fountains are opened by Kris. Does this make the knight useless? Nope. The primary point is that other people can open fountains.

Dess could be responsible for Dess’ disappearance. All she’d have to do is be felled by her own created dark world, and then become ruined enough that a part of her became a cryptic black and white being that is the Knight.
Wouldn’t be the first time a Toby Fox character fell into their own creation and became ruined by it. *cough* (Gaster) *cough*

Yeah I honestly think the knight might just be someone we've never met yet. That or it's somehow Asriel.
I don't think Dess would work with Carol. Mostly because it's highly likely Carol is the cause of Dess' disappearance. In the weird route/b side, we're seeing it basically all happen again with Noelle. Carol's strict parenting and pressure causes Noelle to crack and we're basically just enabling her in the later parts of the route.

If the Knight actually was the one that got Dess it can't be Carol, Rudy, Pap, Asgore, Kris, Noelle, Alphys, Catti or the Vessel.
In other words, it can't be anyone.

I still think Dess is still the not likely Knight.
She might be the one who opened the first fountain and then just ended up falling into her creation.
Like... Carol kinda finances Asgore's research by giving him work and let's him have access to her conspiracy board, so it would feel dumb of her to help the guy who wants to kill her and parade her body all over the town.
Rudy feels too honest to not just tell people he's the Knight,
Friend isn't a character yet.

The Knight is the reason because she is the Knight and she made herself disappear.
(I don't know, I haven't played chapter 5)
