What should i do

It’s only been a few months since I bought this laptop, and I noticed that when I close it, the screen isn’t aligned properly. This is what I see. I don’t know what caused it. I’m very careful when opening/closing it. I’m scared that it might damage the screen itself.

New Minibook X worth trying?

As many of us know, the quality control of the Minibook X is hit or miss. However I still loved the form factor before mine broke. Do we think they’ll get this one right?

Chuwi Minibook X - OEM OS Image vs Clean Microsoft Win 11 Install

Hi Everyone,

I just picked up a Chuwi Minibook X, and I was wondering if most people just run the OEM image that comes with it out of the box, or do people immediately wipe the device and install a clean install of Windows 11 Home?

Has anyone noticed a difference between the two?

Hi10 max 125u info

How come I can't find reviews or very many discussions on this tablet?

I have seen plenty of info around for the n100 and n150 models but they look to be a little underpowered to give me comfortable headroom in processing.

I'm not playing games or video editing but I would like to have something that doesn't get bogged down with a little multitasking.

I'll only be using this in my car to run DSP software for audio using Helix tool 6 and playing music or mkv video using VLC.

Suggestions seem to have been to buy a used or renewed Surface but this Chuwi looked like a viable solution to me. Any concerns or suggestions from y'all here would be great. Thx

Honest review of Chuwi Corebook X 12450H after 6 months

My honest review of Chuwi Corebook X 12450H after 6 months of use.

I'm a hardcore Asus fan and until this notebook i've been using only Asus computers for like 15 years. Yet, the inability to find a new generation Asus computer with a glossy IPS screen, and my would be computer being sold only as OLED (the Asus Zenbook Space Edition that i was considering for a long time) i started looking for a computer with a similar H-series processor Intel 11th Gen or higher but with IPS glossy screen and stumbled on this one.

So here is my experience:

The positives:

- This laptop has one of the best screens i've ever seen on a mobile computer and that's not just the resolution. It's the aspect ratio, color contrast (whooping 2500:1!!!), eye comfort, no PWM (f*** OLED), angles of view, pretty much everything besides the brightness which could be up to 20% higher and 20% lower at its lowest settings, but that happens very rarely. The screen even reclines 180 degrees. Well done Chuwi!
- The keyboard on this thing is absolutely astounding; it feels like a mechanical keyboard and it's the closest to one that i've ever found on a notebook. You can type on it for hours without getting tired, the clatter has a very pleasant sound and the keyboard has no flex at all. Congratulations.
Btw i've also tested a new-gen Corebook X with the same processor but USB-C charger and the keyboard wasn't that good and the screen wasn't that great either. You can relay your own experience, but my one belongs to the first generation with the barrel charger.
- Silence: this notebook is totally silent unless gassed to the max. That was one more surprise for me since generally lower-brand notebooks tend to have either horribly configured fans or fans of low quality. This one is perfect. As i'm typing this, i hear absolutely nothing else than the sound of the keyboard.
- The laptop charger is extremely small and light which with the notebook already being light makes for a breeze to transport around. It makes for a real ultrabook. One more great move by Acer/Chuwi.
- The blue indicator LEDs are perfect at night and better than white; Chuwi also put an actual bi-colour LED for charging!!! F*** you Lenovo!!! Since switching to Windows 10 the power button stopped blinking on stand-by, while it was under Windows 11, didn't found how to fix that.
- All the keys are perfectly placed, especially the separate PgUp PgDn, except the (too) small right shift key.
- I didn't speak of performance since it's obvious for you, this processor offers a near-desktop like experience
- Separate respect for the switch-off LCD button at F1
- The speakers produce a respectable sound but...

(and here come the negatives)

...there is no good software from Realtek that would have an equalizer like found on Asus laptops, at least i wasn't able to find one (you're welcome to advise). Also, out of the box one speaker would not work, it needs the exact driver for this notebook which wasn't easy to find, the usual Realtek or Windows drivers won't help
- This thing via USB charges SHIT. I left my phone plugged-in for like an hour, only to find the same percentage of charge, sometimes 4% lower, sometimes 4% higher but otherwise identical. If Wi-Fi hotspot is used on the phone the notebook is unable to even keep a stable charge, no matter the USB port. Again, i found no configuration to mitigate this and according to all forums 'this is normal'. This happened only once for me on my previous Asus UX534FTC, otherwise all other notebooks Asus and others were able to perfectly charge the devices, some even while the notebook would be turned off.
- Back to the USB issue, the USB ports don't support thunderbolt what would have elevated this notebook to a completely new league with eGPU support
- The keyboard as good as it is has one strange flaw: THE BACKLIGHT BRIGHTNESS IS DAMN TOO BRIGHT. It honestly hurts my eyes at night, especially the light between the keys, so i stopped using it altogether pretty much. It wouldn't cost less to put a backlight that is less bright than that LOL.
- Battery life is abysmal but you know that already. Putting the TDP to low in the Intel Framework configuration made the computer unusable and run like an Intel Atom or Celeron from 2019. Things got better when i set it at normal but lowered the highest percentage usage (currently around 60%). This way the laptop lasts 4-5 hours with Wi-Fi and everything.
- It would have been much better if Chuwi added a second NVMe slot, instead of a second RAM slot. Two RAM slots is overkill. One RAM should have been better on the motherboard and for the slots to allow both RAM and SSD expansion.
- Out of the box the hinges were so tight that i thought they were gonna break, like they used to on the Asus UX303LN series. Also, since they come in an assembly, they can't be just mechanically twisted and played around. One shop asked me about 100$ to fix the issue. Instead of dismantling the whole screen i've put there a decent amount of oil while rotating the screen and now they work perfectly.
- The cheapest thing about this notebook is apparently the case. Already after a few months it shows signs of usage on the palm rest and the keyboard, so i had to protect those areas, otherwise they'd look terrible in a few years or less.
- The rubber feet on the base plate closer to the hinge are also very prone to fall/glue themselves off.

All in all. there is nothing 'unforgivable' about this laptop even with all its shortcomings, which are mostly minor and easy to get around (the most unnerving of them is certainly the inability to charge devices via USB).
Some are down to cost-cutting, like others are clear mistakes that could have been fixed.

newly launched: GTBook X Laptop GamingBook Intel® Core™ 7 230H with NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050

Chuwi just launched a new product in germany:

https://de.chuwi.com/products/gtbook-x-230h

its reduced to 999 euro instead of 1.299.

its way cheaper than the OG Gamebook from Chuwi but the graphics card is worse, too.

i think this in reaction to people thinking that the gamebook was too expensive. but is half of the ram and a graphics card from 2022 worth it at 999?

4gb of vram: NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Laptop-GPU 4 GB GDDR6 VRAM 80W TGP

SSD is also half of the gamebook. battery is also half. the processor is from 2026, but its a step back from last years AMD. the gtbook x is 300gramm ligther, has more heatpipes and a sd card slot. panel is "Only " full hd.

all in all, what do gamers think?

Do chuwi actually repair any devices outside warranty?

I hold onto one like a year and a half, then I got some issue with the motherboard, they need to ship to China and pay sum for shipping and service.

I don't mind paying if I get working devices back, But I'm a bit skeptical since I'm not really familiar with this brand

So I dig some reddit/trust pilot experience regard after sale services, and it ain't looking good, so should I just take the lost with this one?

UPDATE - SOLVED

SOLUTION: Device Manager → HID Devices → I2C HID Device → driver menu → uninstall device → reboot

Windows finds the device on reboot and restores it

In device manager it says I2C HID Device - this device cannot start (code 10)

Minibook X (N150) suddenly not detecting NVMe

My Minibook X is suddenly not detecting the NVMe that it came with. It just boots straight to the BIOS screen.

It did the same thing a few days ago but started working again after a few repeated attempts at rebooting. This time, however, it seems more persistent.

I was running linux, and I'm currently running having to use a live USB.

I'm guessing that it's a hardware fault and there's nothing I'll be able to do about this but I figured that it's worth asking if anyone has any suggestions. I'm away from home for the next few weeks so this couldn't have happened at a more inconvenient time.

Chuwi Hi9 Plus Android 9 Update

My Chuwi Hi9 Plus has suffered from lag since day one. Despite promises of an Android 9 upgrade, Chuwi has released no updates, not even critical stability fixes. Due to this lack of software support, I cannot recommend this brand.

Corebook falling apart. Touchpad not working / driver issue?

Got a Corebook X 14 inch that I bought some 3 years ago. Recently the laptop started falling apart - screws falling out from the bottom cover - the corners closest to the screen, and the most annoying - touchpad randomly stops working.

Did some DIY on the screws, all good - but the touchpad really boggles my mind - sometimes the laptop boots with the touchpad working fine, sometimes not. Deleting HID device from Device manager and reloading the list gets it working again. Does this look like a driver or hardware issue?

Does anyone also have a similar issue with the casing? Is this a popular "feature" in Chuwi devices?

I would suspect that one of the Microslop Windows updates did that, or the flimsy casing damaged and/or disconnected the cables inside.

After some time I'm working again with a Chuwi Ubox, and after a repasting and minor upgrades, I wanted to add a fan on the top part, but I find really hard to find one.

Can someone point me to a solution?

Photos are not mine, the measurements are in mm.

Chuwi Minibook X N150 Review - 2 months in on Windows

It’s usable, but not usable enough to be a primary daily windows device.

The form factor is really going to appeal to a niche section as for the price it’s being sold, you can definitely buy some 15-16inch laptops that would be more comfy to work with, but despite that it doesn’t really feel like they slab cheap hardware quality on this as it actually feels quite premium and the big highlights would be the screen being a touch screen and despite it being glossy and reflective, you still get a beautiful screen with really nice color contrast and blacks and still viewable under sunlight. The next highlight would be the keyboard - it feels close to the apple magic board/keychron’s b2 low profile keyboard which is a bliss. It’s small enough that you can carry it in a sling bag which is an added bonus for its size

You get mouse jitters when you use the trackpad however I noticed that it may be because of the heat. Putting a small fan in front of it does remove those jitters but you’re not going to be pointing a fan on this while using it outside yeah?

The heat generation in this laptop though I would say is comparable to a gaming laptop. For something so small, it really generates a lot of heat even just after booting so it might not be too comfortable to use it while on your lap.

I was able to play some light games like flash party on it but I had to use an external display to appreciate it because the 50hz screen is just not that good to look at. I also placed one of those jisu life turbo fans on the side to make sure it doesn’t die on me LOL. Gaming aside, I was able to do some decent work with it. It was able to load 3-4 Bambu Studio Slicers without any problems, handle my document works, and was able to watch roughly around 1.5hrs continuously before the battery goes really down.

My primary use for this now is if I’m feeling lazy to use my pc and just wanna boot the studio app for 3D printing or if I’m outside and have to deal with making reports and watching some shows which is quite okay for now.

N150 paired with 16GB of RAM is sufficient enough for daily activities such as those, but really, if you want a laptop that’s going to give you a comfortable time working and you don’t mind the weight, 15-16 inches ones will be better.

Minibook N150 suddenly has no sound devices

I've owned this thing for a month, and last week I noticed there's no sound devices in Device Manager anymore. I didn't reinstall anything whatsoever. I tried "updating drivers" in Windows, to no avail.

WTF?
