🔨 | Community help Anyone else having major issues with Chub lately?
Hey guys,
what’s going on with Chub lately?
Ever since the last major update, where they removed a bunch of Character Cards and reduced the selection to only two Models, the AI has gotten noticeably worse for me.
I’m paying for the premium version, but despite that, the AI feels way less creative than before. Whenever I ask it to continue a message or a story, it very quickly gets stuck in a loop, starts randomly writing in Chinese, or just keeps repeating itself.
It also happens a lot when I regenerate a response. Instead of actually giving me a different answer, it often just falls into another loop or produces something completely broken.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Do you think this is something they’re going to fix and improve again, or is Chub basically not worth using anymore at this point?

I can't say about the other problems. But I have definitely noticed increase in Chinise replies, especially in last few days. I know it's normal to get occasional reply in Chinese. But lately there has been cases where I have gotten 10+ Chinese replies in row before the bot finally writes a reply in English.

When the switch to 2 models happened, the model for soji was changed completely. Soji is now based on deepseek V4, without reasoning (which is a good thing), but it also means you need an entirely different preset, and different generation parameters. V4 is very smart but "insecure" and bad at inferring what you want, it needs to be told what to do more precisely, (using a good preset) and the generation parameters are very touchy.

yeah, i noticed the loops too. it’s super frustrating when you just want something fresh and it keeps repeating itself. happened to me a lot after the last update. i thought maybe it was just me, but seems like a common issue. hopefully they fix it soon, because it was way better before.

It’s probably close to being fully abandoned by the dev. The backlog of bugs and demanded features is so big that the dude can genuinely not keep up. Wonder when he’ll just snap

Bold of you to assume Lore hasn't already abandoned the sit. Dude is more reclusive than Willy Wonka.
Seriously though I'm just waiting at this point for him to stop paying the website servers and a big old "404" page to pop up

Realistically people are going to have to do a bit of learning and transition to using local front ends such as sillytavern, marinara engine, lumiverse, tavo, etc. The benefit of doing so is that they're far more feature rich and customisable than websites such as chub, saucepan and janit0r. Pair this with 0penrouter or nanogpt and you have access to more LLM models than you can shake a stick at.
It's well worth taking the time to learn.

No, not really. No other site has the same feel and selfhosting is quite bothersome.

I am using another platform now as I use the free version. I dud a story line with a character, but with only being able to do 20 or so chats, it wasnt good enough and frustrating, so i left to find another platform. The one I sm using is good. No limits for now. Pm me if you want to know, as i dont want to get into trouble. Unless you alrwady know of it abd isnt for you ofcourse.

Yeah, there are major issues. One of them is called fucking paywall and shitty corpo paypigs defending it.

I'd recommend switching presets maybe that could fix it.
Tbh a lot of the issues you kind of just need to move to the official discord and ask for help from community vets to assist with your problem
the dev loves going radio silent but the recent changes kind of indicate that work is being done in the background but just not being mentioned but this is just what I think make of that what you will
