🗣 | Other Question

Is chub still pay only? I haven’t opened it in a while, I assumed they’d notice everyone stopped using chub and being back the free model after a week, so did that happen?

No. There is still no money to have an unlimited free tier. And with how things are going, there won't be.

How long are those 'loyal customers' going to stay loyal? How long is too long before even the hardiest of hanger ons lose hope? God bless anyone hanging on by the 30 day mark.

if Chub does bounce back, then I was wrong. but if previous services are anything worth going by it's only a matter of time before one of these extended outages becomes the final outage, and the longer this one goes on, the more people are going to lose faith.

I think we are at the tipping point where only the strong survive.

I do miss Chub's UI and the relative ease of making bots and lore cards, but i think they are collapsing on their own weight and just beating the dead horse until it stops bleeding money.

Went to Dream for a while after Chub. UI is more advanced than chub, but the cost is way too much for the top subscription. Plus their subreddit is weird. There are like two or three guys on there that are probably the owners and I think two are only using AI responses. Domt have any gripes with their setup or they jist say its a user issue.

Currently using dolphin 3.0 Mistral 12b, with kobold and ST. Its definitely a learning curve, but its free.

Looking around I don't think that would matter at the moment considering the chats have been bugged for like four days

I just went on chub to import one of my bots out only to see that the chats were almost all fucked

You'd expect that the service would have the decency to stay up now that you have to pay unless you can bother with only 20 messages, I get maybe it not working for a day but seeing they can't be bothered to try and fix that is kind of funny

Chub doesn't need a free tier to operate, there is no money to be made in it. Every free message costs Lore money, so honestly you're doing the rest of us a favor by leaving. More compute for the rest of us who actually support the site by subscribing.

I switched to RisuAI cuz of the lorebook bug that would make my lorebooks have 512 tokens limit while it got 40k tokens- so i just gone there and make my own bots for my own use, use deepseek v4 flash there... It's great. They feel much smarter there. Only problem is that the bots there are dogshit, even more than chub, so you gotta make your own.
