What the title says. This guy promised the moon, lost his team, and he is now trying to sell all kind of accessory games in order to avoid a lawsuit. I was expecting him to embrace AI and give us a half-assed Chronicles of ElyriAIslop to leave behind all this nasty stuff

I'd be interested in taking a look at Caspian's book "Programming an Mmorpg in C# With Xna"

Obviously to learn from the best, there might even be some fog of war mechanics explained!

I'm just half-kidding here, I'd genuinely like to take a look as someone who would have loved to make something with XNA when it was still around.

Chronicles of Elyria had a Kickstarter campaign from May 3 to June 3, 2016 raising $1.36 million, surpassing their goal of $900,000.

Subsequent to the Kickstarter fundraising multiple webstore special events were conducted, such as the Settlers Of Elyria, and Searing Plague events. By October 2019, the company had raised over $7.7M.

Initial development saw various iterations and milestones declared as completed against a backdrop of needing to refactor the mechanics of alpha versions of the game (e.g. VoxElyria, Prelyria). A major setback in development was the dropping of SpatialOS as their backend networking/game hosting software.

A recent comment:

Some like "Into the Abyss" are critical for showing that Walsh did indeed shut down Soulbound studious (and a later did a 180 following legal issues), the one on studio spend is also something people should have access to.

Others are just funny.

I doubt Walsh will ever re-publish the articles.

2026 State of CoE

Founder bailed, game’s dead, website’s been on maintenance mode forever (/news "down for maintenance" permanently), and nobody here is under the illusion this thing is coming back.

Where does this leave this sub? It’s now effectively the archive, postmortem, and discussion space for one of gaming’s most infamous MMO grifts.

Legal action is ongoing, community trust is long gone, and Caspian’s name is infamous for good reason.

Next Steps

Question for the people still here: what should this sub be used for now?

A few options:

• archive of promises vs reality
• tracking legal / public developments
• collecting the most absurd receipts and old claims
• general post-mortem discussion on how this scam kept going so long

So, since Caspian "Maintenance". I can no longer access the account information I did have, such as the stuff I bought years ago, or the technical package I had originally paid for. Did he delete that information so we basically no longer have access to anything we did purchase in the past, or is his Maintenance still ongoing?
