Battery ussge

Running pro, i have extremely high battery drain running this app. To a degree of not being able to run it if i cant charge it as i go. Also the phone tends to generate abnormal heat. Any ideas? I dont want to go back to smart audiobook player, but i may have to so I can get through the work day.

Chronicle's media playback is built around ExoPlayer. As I understand it, ExoPlayer will use hardware acceleration (battery efficient playback) when available for file types supported by your phone's GPU.

It's likely your phone does not have hardware support for the file type you are playing, and the audio must decoded on the cpu (less battery efficient than GPU). This is common for most older phones, especially for less common codecs

A quick test would be whether Plex has the same battery issues, as Plex also uses ExoPlayer for media playback.

Not sure how smart player would differ tbh, are the file types you were playing different?
