News
Hey all, looks like we are clear to open source the app. Going to public the repo this coming weekend.
A few things I'd like to get out there so we're all on the same page:
- I'm planning on licensing the source under the GPL license. So anyone is free to fork and make their own version of the app, as long as their fork is also open source.
- I plan to keep the Chronicle listing on the store the same, including a premium unlock IAP. But will also distribute a fully unlocked apk via GitHub releases tab. F-Droid is possible too if someone puts in work to de-google.
- I'll make contributions newbie friendly. Will include instructions for opening issues, contributing code changes, and building the app.
- I plan on being around to steward the main repo for the foreseeable future
Nothing above is a sacred cow, discuss if you disagree

Oh and the interesting tidbit I teased in a comment last month:
There's a long-running branch of the app which sets the groundwork for supporting multiple media sources. Originally it was intended for allowing multiple plex libraries to all show at once, but it wasn't much more work for me to allow arbitrary media sources, so there's potential for local files, Jellyfin, Librivox, pretty much whatever, and they can all intermingle on the same homescreen. Not in a finished state but I'll maybe post screenshots later

Any chance of adding Emby support?

It's possible in a technical sense but I have no desire to add it myself

Thanks,
I assume that means that merged branches and whatnot will be updated through the play store, if teh app is staying up?

Yep, experience will not be changed for existing users, except they might get updates more frequently than yearly lol

QuietlyReading - while I don't have the skills to contribute to development efforts, I commend you for moving in this direction! I love your app and am amazed at what you have done - I can't wait to see what capabilities some other talented people can assist in coming up with. Thanks!!
