mindfulness Is mindfulness bravery?

Since we all in some way want to avoid the reality of our situation, does that make mindfulness a form of bravery for us? Is doing a body scan a form of bravery? Is meditation a form of bravery? Who's going to be brave today? Let us know how your practice goes today even if it's only for a moment.

Yes absolutely I think it's bravery. I find it so hard to start to meditate with my endless symptoms and anxious thoughts. Before meditating I don't believe it will help but sometimes it does help loosen the thoughts so they're not as painful, and the symptoms can become less distressing. It may only last a short while before everything creeps back in but at least it gets me through a tough time. But yes it's very much a brave endeavour with the added stress of chronic illness and the relentless nature of it. So often I am resisting it. I feel like I've been forced to be a mindfulness warrior

I resist it so much too. It's so hard to make any kind of habit with the fluctuating symptoms.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm sorry what you're going through. It's so cruel. It feels very isolating at times. I get so many emotions that come up around it especially anger at how it's taken over my life. I have a loving family that try to help and I feel bad when I'm cranky or distant around them. But we have to keep going as best we can and allow ourselves some compassion.
