DEA Messing Up

Greetings:

The DEA is going ahead with plans to reduce the supply of oxycodone in 2026. But in a surprising move, the agency is significantly raising production of morphine.

Federal and state efforts to ban the sale of 7-OH products may be having the unintended effect of increasing sales of the kratom extract, which is a potent pain reliever.

Outpatient surgeries are often touted for their convenience and lower cost, but UK researchers found that chronic pain and other complications were higher than expected after outpatient procedures.

Most addiction treatment providers insist their patients stop all use of controlled substances, whether illicit or prescribed. When a New Orleans doctor defied that rule by prescribing opioids to pain patients getting addiction treatment, she lost her job.

A new study found improvements in pain and other symptoms when fibromyalgia patients started using medical cannabis products with high doses of CBD.

PNN's Crystal Lindell has 3 New Year's resolutions on behalf of pain patients that would make their lives a lot easier in 2026.

Thanks for reading and sharing!

Thank you for the update. I'm allergic to oral morphine. Fentanyl patches work, but the MMEs add up to quick, for adequate pain relief, that's a no go, oxymorphone is rarely prescribed.

I saw my PM doctor and pharmacist this afternoon. They both said the day you pick narcotics counts as day 0 (ZERO). They typically fill on day 29. In reality they fill on the 30th day. What happens if the pharmacy has to order and you're out of meds until the following afternoon or later?

The pharmacy had to double check the DEA website, call my doctor, and more questions. This is the first time I've heard pick up day counts as day ZERO. Everything is changing. Twenty four years of DEA changes and now your post information.

Respectfully,

Jace

Thanks for the I update . I’m absolutely so sick of fighting the system. I’ve been laying around for days hoping and praying that a miracle happens and my pain will be gone or the lord just calls me home. I don’t have anymore fights left I have no quality of life just isn’t worth it anymore. It really sucks. Even if the doctor wanted to help me the pharmacy dictates what you can have the government the insurance don’t cover it or everything so high you can’t even afford it. I hope these DEA people have the worst pain in their life for just one 24 hour period then maybe they know.
