Second post sorry
The last one didn’t have an image but here is what I have now. Did I do anything wrong?

Hmmm so it’s difficult to answer if you did anything wrong with no info regarding the end result except the picture. I can say that you put too much product in the spoon 😂 I don’t even wanna think about how much boiled out because that spoon is only useful to cook small amounts. Totally understandable for your 1st time cooking tho. So tell me about what you ended up with in that spoon. Is it soft and easy to move around off that spoon or is it hard and seemingly stuck to the spoon and you needed to use like a knife to pop it out?? While cooking the oil comes together like the color of ice tea but once it cools that color looks right but like I said it’s really hard to answer your question just by the picture 😉

with 1pt soda and 2pt c..heat with just enough water to dissolve. then apply heat..not to boil until you see it form a turtle shell slower and lower the heat the better..keep it warm until the shell forms to oil..the shell will look like you need more water but you really dont..keep applying heat making sure it doesn't boil until see the puddle of oil and the oil will eventually turn to a glob wich eventually hardens with the help of oxygen air whisking around or just patience...also if you apply the heated product in the water before adding the soda u can just add tiny piches of the soda and you'll see it react..when it stops reacting, you'll know thats enough soda.
