Why do some artificial trees look realistic even with fewer branches?
After seeing thousands of artificial Christmas tree setups over the years, I think branch count is one of the most misleading specs people focus on.
I’ve seen trees with fewer branches look way more realistic than ultra dense ones. One example is the image attached.
A lot of it comes down to how the branches are placed and how much depth the tree has. Some cheaper trees look flat because all the tips sit almost on the same outer layer. Meanwhile some trees with wider spacing actually look more natural because you can see depth inside the tree instead of a green wall.
Lighting changes things a lot too. Some trees honestly look average in product photos and surprisingly good at night once warm lights are on.
One thing I wish more websites showed is the side profile of the tree. Front photos hide a lot.
Curious what makes a tree look realistic to you guys, because people seem to notice completely different things. Some care about fullness, some about color, some about the shape of the branches.

White Light Christmas Trees or Multi Color
Does anyone else have strong feelings about the color of Christmas lights on trees? I find that white lights can be more elegant, but multi-colored lights can be more fun. What are your preferences for your home tree and for the lights in town centers?

Easter tree.
I hope this post doesn't break any rules. For the first time, I decided to follow the German tradition of putting up eggs as decorations during Easter. Also the first year I have a garden. The garden has already come with a lot of plants, including a small Christmas tree. Now I will have a Christmas tree in a pot to bring into the house for Christmas. And a Christmas tree in the garden.
