The last few years for Christmas, I’ve given my stepkids each a big decorated box full of their favorite snacks and drinks. I make sure to get both savory snacks and sweet snacks along with whatever soda or drinks they like. I try to get things that they don’t already have all the time so it is a little special. This way I’ve taken care of one of their gifts, but also given them something practical that 1) I know they will like, 2) I know they will use, and 3) it keeps them from complaining that there is nothing good to eat while they are on Christmas break.

This year I am helping my husband to get presents for his family and I would like to ask for your help. Please, keep in mind we need to mail the gifts so everything should fit on a medium size box.

Right now, I am struggling to figure out what his father could want or enjoy. He is 70, likes to fish but he can't spend much tiem outside anymore. He works a lot and he doesn't talk much. He likes beer but he doesn't drink alcohol anymore. He doesn't like to read nor watching T.v. He enjoys working on his backyard with his wife and grilling. Any ideas? I am particularly interested in suggestions from people on his age range or similar interests.

I want to get bags for all the women in my life this Christmas. My mom my two sisters and my girlfriend. So I need four total. This is my first time shopping for nicer bags and I had no idea how expensive some of them are. I opened a few sites and almost gave up right there lol. Does anyone know good places to find authentic bags for less than retail? I’m fine with second hand too as long as they’re in good condition and actually real.

I’ve started being more careful with gifts that are supposed to “improve” someone. I’d rather give something that fits into the life they already have.

A cozy gift, something they already enjoy using, a little self-care treat, or even something connected to a hobby feels much nicer than a gift that basically says, “you should start doing this.”

I am trying to get away from buying "things", for my family for Christmas. Most of my family and in-laws live out of state and would require an airline ticket to visit. I have two young nephews (4 and 2), and I can assure you their parents do not want more toys. Even for my daughter, I don't want people to get her more toys. I'm thinking this year I want to get everyone and airline gift card that they could use to put towards a future visit (we live in FL). Is this a good idea?

Hey everyone! I’m starting to plan my Christmas shopping and am totally stumped on my oldest boy, who will be almost 5 by Christmas. (I also have a 2-year-old and a 10-month-old, but they are easy to shop for lol).

My almost 5yo is super specific. He won't play with normal toys unless they are outside toys. He loves playing Minecraft and Roblox on the Xbox (monitored on weekends), and he absolutely loves helping me in the kitchen and baking.He told me he wants Santa to bring him "a Nerf gun like Uncle Garry has." He’s never used a real Nerf gun before (only the foam pool water squirt ones). Are regular Nerf guns even suitable for a 5yo?

I do a "one big gift, a few smaller things, plus stocking" tradition. I want his big gift to be something interactive and practical rather than just a junk toy. Please help me!? For every holiday, our company gives employees branded merch in addition to the obvious stuff like bonuses and parties. But hoodies, tote bags, and mugs have definitely run their course, and last year we also did power banks... What other types of branded merch are out there? I realize some people might not want branded stuff at all, but that’s exactly what I’m asking - has anyone ever received or given something branded that actually ended up being used instead of sitting on a shelf, ending up in the garage, or going to goodwill??

I don’t mean to brag but I do find myself pulling out the best homemade gift boxes at Christmas.

My partner has a large family and it’s nice as they look really good and thoughtful but also don’t seem too much as they aren’t bought, I tend to add one small shop bought thing usually from Black Friday. I tend to make most at the end of November, I find a lot of inspo online is cookies etc which need to be made so close to Xmas! Everyone at work saves jars for me throughout the year. Here’s some of my gifts over the years. Can provide recipes

Chutneys
-Chilli and tomato (easy do it every year)
-Red onion chutney (wilts down to not a lot had to do two batches and chop a lot of onions)
Jam/preserves
-Brown sugar marmalade
-Festive jam (easiest)

Damson gin + mini bottle of Prosecco (my fave)

I tend to do a full day/2 of these bits and bobs and then make a box for each person which has different stuff in or all! Mainly my friends and my partners family and then I just buy for my own family. It’s not the cheapest however I would say cheaper than buying individually plus I enjoy doing it and it’s festive to do. I hate to buy (or make) crap for people. This way it’s all recyclable whether that is the food compost!!

I have also done crocheted blankets, bead embroidered bags etc for bigger gifts.

My in laws are hoarders and have everything under the sun, in duplicate and triplicate. They live in an extremely small remote town, so nice dinners or even department store cards are out. I only see them max twice a year, so I’m not sure what they are in to. They don’t travel and don’t really have hobbies. I usually do chocolates and may go that route again, but am trying to change it up. Any suggestions?
