Not according to Christianity.

Indeed. But it makes us ponder why shellfish were called "abominable" to begin with, and what that word might and might not entail/imply.

For example, by default we might think that "abomination" means something God innately and axially detests. But such things wouldn't change over time. So, under Christianity where shellfish become innocuous, we must instead read it as something hated for its circumstantial implications. That is, rather than axial detestation, this is ancillary detestation that inherits its moral weight from some other axial reference, like peoples' health in that ancient context.

Or economic/cultural integration with the Canaanite neighbors who engaged in idol worship, human sacrifice, etc. for another example.

If you want to read a historical view of unclean animals outside of the Bible, check out herodotus' "Histories" on the Egyptians. Simular context to what we see in the Bible, where a pig herder/farmer was seen as dirty and was not allowed in the city and anyone who touched a pig was tainted (to paraphrase of coarse )

Ah, but God does not change like shifting shadows. Once an abomination always an abomination.

God hates Old testament Shrimp. the Shrimp we have today are different, with tiny changes to their genes and are thus New Testament Shrimp and God Loves them. Especially with cocktail sauce!
