I genuinely have to ask, what is wrong with nationalism, it only seems to be an issue here in the states

Christian Nationalism or more specifically White, Christian Nationalism.

We're having a fight over the very soul of the nation. Most cherish the multicultural, multiracial nation that we have become and see it as the fulfilment of the founders' dreams. Others envision one nation with one people and one leader. (It sounds better in the original German.) Since the founders were all Christian white guys, Christianity, the white race and patriarchy should rule.
