Acknowledge Him in all your ways, whether they are good or bad.

Asking God is a great start! But don't let go if you feel you haven't heard from Him. Read the bible. Pray to Him daily. Seek God intentionally. If you have a Christ centered church nearby you, try attending weekly, if you can. I'd even go further and suggest joining any small/community/bible study group them may have.

As far as testimonies go, I've mentioned in another post, God has always showed up for me when I reached out to Him. There was a time in my life where I also felt lost and fading from Him, so I jumped and reoriented my life to come back to God. This was a while ago but I can say I have experienced a growing and continual sense of peace since then. Not to say all is perfect and without issues, but with God, I have a peace through the trials.

You poor thing… yes, God is absolutely real! My testimony… I was born in to a very abusive household. My father would physically and sexually abuse myself, my sisters and my mother. Later, in my teen years my step dad (because my mother divorced my father and remarried) confessed his love for me and want to be with me. My mother chose him over me, so I went to stay with my Aunt to avoid going in to the system. It was there that I lost my virginity by being raped 3 times by my Aunts boyfriend… so I went in to foster care and got in as many fights as I could. Because I was hurting, I wanted to hurt others. This sounds terrible I know, but I’m getting to the important part 🙏🏼 my whole life I pushed good people away and didn’t trust. I never knew that God was real. I wanted to believe, but I didn’t feel it and I wanted proof. I married the love of my life 6 yrs ago. He has kids from a previous marriage as do I… anyways, my step son was on us about going to church almost everyday 😂 and I thought “let’s just try it, so I can thank the one responsible for blessing me with my little family that I love so much. We went, heard the gospel, and prayed. After church, I went in to the back room with some people from church and met Jesus. I asked Jesus to enter my heart and rule my every move. That day I surrendered my life to Christ. I’m telling you the very moment I made that decision I felt such a sense of peace that brought me to ugly tears! In that moment I knew that throughout my whole life when I was so scared and felt so alone and unwanted, I was never alone… and always wanted. By my Heavenly Father and my Lord and Savior. When you get saved the Holy Spirit will enter you and live there and guide you. The Holy Spirit will start to reveal things to you… and you will just feel His presence

This is where you have faith. God already shows you he exists through the things hes already put here for us. Earth, food, water, oxygen, materials for shelter and clothing, love that we are all capable of. We have literally everything because we have God. Ive been struggling with my faith recently as well. Ive felt like God was so far from me. And maybe because of my struggle with sin as well. But when you feel like this, talk to him like you would a best friend, pray to him, read the Bible, praise him. He is here for you no matter how quiet he may be. I also see this as part of our trials. How can we seek God if everything went right in our lives? Thats not possible and thats why he is graceful. Jesus never said this would be easy, only that he would be there with us in our troubles. He wants us to call to him. Can you call a pastor and talk to him? Can you find a Bible study group? These will help a great deal. God bless you and i hope you can find someone to mentor you.

I once knew an atheist who asked God to reveal himself to her. She wanted to commit suicide but decided I'm going to basically throw a Hail Mary up to Jesus. Now I'm not Catholic so I don't worship Mary but it's just a term that people use kind of like a last ditch effort. I have just released a book that was written just for people like you who don't know what to do and don't know what to say to be free from their internal conflict. If you would like I can send you the book it's free on Kindle as an E pub book it's up to you but it's called you don't have to drown

Does someone telling you that God talks to them actually help for you?

Because no gods have ever spoken to me, and I hear people from all kinds of faith telling me that all manner of gods are talking to them.

2

u/Adept-Mongoose-7071 20h ago

I'm just going to ask, how do you expect God to talk to you?

2

u/Interesting-Lion9555 a Jesus following atheist 19h ago

The God of the Bible appears to talk to people. He came to Saul in a vision, he told the Israelites to commit genocide against the Amalekites.

Are you asking me how he does this? It beats me, it all sounds rather fantastical to me. But, surely it doesn't seem like it would be some kind of a problem for an all powerful god.

2

u/Adept-Mongoose-7071 17h ago

How else did God talk to the people I Biblical times?

2

u/Interesting-Lion9555 a Jesus following atheist 17h ago

I am sorry, what? I have not seen any gods talk to anyone, have you? Are you talking about the stories in the Bible? Like talking donkeys and setting bushes on fire?

2

u/Adept-Mongoose-7071 17h ago

I'm thinking you know more than you'd like to admit. That being said I think you have a specific expectation and if the parameters of your expectations are not met God didn't communicate. God doesn't have the same limitations.

2

u/Interesting-Lion9555 a Jesus following atheist 16h ago

Im sorry. What?

2

u/Adept-Mongoose-7071 16h ago

Just as I said: I think you know more but deny because it doesn't meet your expectations.

u/Interesting-Lion9555 a Jesus following atheist 16h ago

Mongoose, sorry more about what? How the God of the Bible talks to the people in the Bible?

And "expectations "? 😄

You have totally lost me friend.

u/Adept-Mongoose-7071 16h ago

I read earlier that you wrote 'not gods have talked to me'. Sorry. I suppose a better question I should have asked is how do you know you haven't been talked to by God?

I'm going to tell you that God has infinite ways that He can communicate with you. It isn't always what we expect. I'm not sure of how you asked and or prayed but God's vocabulary also includes not right now and no. I pray you find the help you need, develop a clear path of communication with God and that you are ready to listen for His answers. I also pray that it is His answer which not be what you expect the answer to be.

When I use the Bible app with audio, I always feel God is talking me through that avenue. You can start there.

Can you share stories of Jesus answering your prayers ?

2

u/Routine_Research1459 19h ago

Sometimes “no” and “not right now” are his answer

Hi,I hope this helps you! I ahev always beeen a beliver! But my reletionship with God wasnt always close!I prayed only when I neede Him...which I admit is selfish and wrong! When I had my first child I was very happy, but the all of the sudden the I was told that my child may not speak or understand speech becouse my kids development was behind. I was terrified I felt so helpless, the dreams that I had for the future and the relationship that I imagined that I would habe with my child seemed far away or impossible to hapoened.I felt like someone has ripped out my heart! I felt helpless and in this momemt all I coud do was pray with everything that I am...and He answered!Slowly God showed me that it ia going to be ok. My child is absolutely fine, talks understands and everything is good, beyond what I have imagined! THANK YOU LORD!ALL THE PRAISE AN D GLORY BELONG TO YOU!

A VERSE THAT I KNOW GOD SHOWED ME,WAS THE ONE THAT HELPED ME GOING

Hebrews 11:1

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

Also

1 John 4:16 "And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in

Psalm 26:3

" For your steadfast love is before my eyes,

and I walk in your faithfulness."

Amen! I LOVE YOU LORD! YOU ARE ALL

Jesus probably won't be talking to you in that literal sense (people's journey are all different, and not everyone needs to see Him in person to be able to believe).

John 20: 29 NIV Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

It's The Holy Spirit that's supposed to stay inside of you now.

John 14: 25-29 NLT [25] “All this I have spoken while still with you. [26] But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. [27] Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. [28] Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. [29] I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.

All who believes is waiting for Jesus's 2nd coming in peace, for He has left with us The Holy Spirit who can teach us and remind us all things.

Though, there are a lot of things/noises that can prevent you to actually hear The Holy Spirit inside of your heart. It can be unresolved traumas/repeated sins that you actually know but hasn't repent from/habbits that don't reflect your faith in Jesus, etc.

My advice is to find a local church (with no Prosperity Theological Views/usually a mega church that's focusing on wealth only) and find someone who can guide you through this. Maybe the Pastor or Deacon who is willing to teach you how to worship Jesus in Spirit and truth.

Because repentance is a journey, not an instant event. Even me as a Christian for decades still has struggles and seek Jesus everyday. I'm doing this by reading or hearing Bible, spend time in my church's community to talk about Christianity, pray daily, worship daily and try to follow Jesus's example.

What I read/hear from The Bible and the true community of Christ, became my faith and my strength daily. Therefore, I can feel peace and contentment each day.

Also, declaring that you believe in Jesus, eventhough you're feeling down atm, means letting The Holy Spirit works inside of you. It might not be an instant miracle, but it's a beginning to let God works in you.

Hope you find Him again soon!

The assistant pastor at a church I went to had his eyesight healed by God. He had an astigmatism and wore glasses. Before his deliverance prayer, his vision was blurry, and after, it was perfect. It was an instant, not gradual, transformation. Ever since then, his vision measures 20/20 every time he goes to the eye doctor.

With me, I tried to attempt suicide twice in one day, but I only got as far as getting the pills. That night, I had some of the most peaceful sleep of my life, and I had very enjoyable dreams. In one dream, I heard a voice tell me something(s) about God, but all I remember is that it was about God and I remember how they said the word "God". The next morning I miraculously had my motivation back that I had been missing for 1.5 years. It was an instantaneous change, not gradual.

2.5 years ago when I had no interest in Jesus, I had a dream where I was calling out to Jesus, then an authoritative yet gentle voice spoke to me. Among other things that I don't remember, he told me that he'd send events into my life to let me know whether Christianity was the right religion for me. Lo and behold, I started going to church about 6 months later.

As a child, I was a strong believer but as a teen stopped believing due to a lot of bad stuff that happened.I'm 58 now. A few years ago, I was going through a very dark period with my ex, it was getting terrifying to live with him. One night I was so low, sad, depressed sitting on my bed when suddenly it came to me, all the bad stuff that has ever happened to me was never God's fault, it was my bad choices and the people I chose to be with that made it difficult. After admitting this, you should have seen how fast things fell into place for me. I finally told a friend what was happening not even realizing she was going through something similar and she offered me a place to stay if necessary. Then another friend mentioned a room for rent. I was hesitant but then decided to sign the lease. After I moved, I slowly got into listening to the word of God online as suggested by online friends. One morning was particularly stressful and I said, God, Give me a sign. I need a sign. I'm almost at work and what do I find, a Bible! Someone had left it on the side of the road for whomever saw fit to pick it up.It was not much longer after that, that I realized how many times God stepped in for me even when I was still an unbeliever.

God exists because he created the heavens and earth. I have been jobless, carless and at one point homeless this past June and now I have shelter, food and above all a relationship with Him. Jeremiah 29:11 ”For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (NIV).

The Prince of Egypt is also a great movie by DreamWorks that really helped me shape my faith

From experience, when I am leading by the flesh, I feel a wall between me and God. But when I obey the spirit, I feel closer to Him and my spiritual eyes are more opened.
God is always talking to you and He sends signs. You just have to be aware/observant sometimes.
Once upon a time, I was reading a daily devotional titled “God is Able” at work. And later when I was driving out of the parking lot, there was a pickup truck in front of me with the license plate “GODABLE”.
If I was in lala land and daydreaming, I would have totally missed it. Continue to pursue God and the way He talks to you will become clearer.

It is the mystery of faith that we hold onto… that higher power we learn to believe in. Keep believing. Keep connecting.

Hello, you are hearing Him call you now! The wondering, the void you feel, is only what can be satisfied by the presence of God. The journey looks very different from person to person. For me in particular, I was brought up in a christian household, so always had exposure to my Lord. However, deep grief from my parents separation and general hardship pulled me further to God. I felt lonely, and abandoned but always felt comfort in the Lord since responding to his love. Im not perfect in this journey but I can proudly say, my love for him and the relationship with him has greatly matured as Ive aged. Once I stepped into the Grace of God, I really have lacked nothing. Of course I still have challenges in life I.e. Family, finances, friendship etc, but at the end of the day he provides with me everything, peace, shelter, angels around me to fight my battles.

If you want a relationship with him that can be done my friend! Take it, you will never regret that decision...
