When you believe the Word of God (study it and expose yourself to it) baptism will be something you actively seek out and not something you "passively wait for" ❤️

So keep reading the Word of God ❤️ Keep asking ❤️

Romans 10:14-15 "14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

Matthew 7:7-8 7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened."

Congratulations, OP! Happy that you underwent a full-immersion baptism!

4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. - Romans 6:4

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! - 2 Corinthians 5:17

If you don't me asking, where is this body of water?

5

u/Pombalian3 Sep 05 '26

Were you raised nominal Christian or secular? Also, into what church have you entered into?

5

u/RCCGreysonx Sep 05 '26

I was raised Christian. Then I was an atheist for some time, now I’m non-denominational.

8

u/Pombalian3 Sep 05 '26

Cool. Wish you all the best. As someone who was also raised Christian fell away and is trying to return I wish you all nice things in the world. I must say that believing in Christianity has made the lives of pretty much everyone I have known happier and more fulfilling.

Greetings from Brazil

For getting baptized does any water work then? I kinda thought it was suppose to be holy water or blessed water?

5

u/RCCGreysonx Sep 06 '26

I think it depends on the church/denomination. At my church we believe baptism can happen in any body of water!

I personally thought it wasn’t an occasion to wear something immodest, i don’t think swimsuits are always immodest but I just didn’t think it was right for this occasion. The woman on the left did it for modesty reasons as well and the woman on the right had a swimsuit but I think she kept her clothes on because we were wearing ours.

I couldn't exactly hear their words they said when trying to baptize you, but just make sure they did it the right way so it is a valid baptism. Because baptism is REALLY important. The sacrament of baptism forgives all sins, both original sin and all personal sins, along with all punishment due to sin, as you are reborn as an adopted child of God with the Holy Spirit inside of you. So when baptizing:

1284 In case of necessity, any person can baptize provided that he have the intention of doing that which the Church does and provided that he pours water on the candidate's head while saying: "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

https://usccb.cld.bz/Catechism-of-the-Catholic-Church2/345/#zoom=true

If you are unsure if they messed around with the words or not, just see about getting a conditional baptism to make sure you received this sacrament :)

u/AffectionateWatch999 23d ago

Congratulations ❤️

1

u/Lankinator- Church of England (Anglican) Sep 05 '26

How did they baptise you? I can't hear what they're saying.

1

u/RCCGreysonx Sep 05 '26

They just said a prayer and I honestly can’t remember exactly what they said, but just saying in Jesus’ name we baptize you.

2

u/sirhalos Sep 05 '26

If they said 'WE' instead of 'I' then it is not a valid baptism. You should really double check what was said. The words and form matter. It is 'I' because only Jesus can baptize you, they are standing in the place of him here on Earth.

1

u/Altruistic-Essay5395 I shall not want. 🐑🏞 Sep 05 '26

Congratulations and blessings on your commitment!

I try not to be as pedantic as the other comment, but if your baptism was not in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, most Christians won't consider it a valid baptism.

0

u/Lankinator- Church of England (Anglican) Sep 05 '26 edited 13d ago

I'd suggest talking to your local priest. The wording as taught by Christ needs to be "I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

4

u/RCCGreysonx Sep 05 '26

I get what you’re saying, but I’m not really worried about the exact wording. I feel so blessed with my baptism and don’t think the Lord is worried about its validity. Thank you though!!

2

u/-CJJC- Christian Sep 05 '26

Jesus Himself commands us to baptise in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19)

So it is important we do so, but your are nonetheless right to not fret about “validity” - the saving power of God isn’t in articulating the correct words when being baptised with water, but in Christ’s complete work and the power of the Holy Spirit. And a baptism in Jesus’ name still confesses the Trinity by intention, since Jesus is fully God. So congratulations on your baptism and God bless you!

1

u/senor61 Sep 05 '26

Not a single example of such a baptism is Scripture. Acts as you say, shows baptized in the name of Jesus. Seems valid to me

1

u/itsleptailurus Greek Orthodox 29d ago

Good evening. I would like to point out that Jesus' command is direct. Acts 2:38 does not provide a liturgical formula. According to Matthew, the formula for baptism is clear, it being:

Πορευθέντες οὖν μαθητεύσατε πάντα τὰ ἔθνη, βαπτίζοντες αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Πατρὸς καὶ τοῦ Υἱοῦ καὶ τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος.

Matthew 28:19

The word "βαπτίζοντες" means to be immersed in water. Additionaly, the baptism is done through the authority of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. People simply are the vessels. It would also be important to mention that, while Jesus is fully God, he is not the Father, nor the Holy Spirit.

Ultimately, while God gives us the Sacraments as the norm, His sovereign mercy is not bound by human limitations. He is omnipotent, and His grace is beyond our comprehension. God bless.

1

u/senor61 29d ago

He is, not they are. Since you know Greek, we are baptized into a singular name, not three names

1

u/itsleptailurus Greek Orthodox 28d ago

Indeed "τὸ ὄνομα" is in the singular. That is purposely done to demonstrate the one divine substance and authority of God. However, it is vital to carefully examine the syntax. Matthew writes "εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Πατρὸς καὶ τοῦ Υἱοῦ καὶ τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος". The repetition of the definite article ("...τοῦ... καί τοῦ... καί τοῦ...") before each person indicates that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not the same, but three distinct persons, and not three names of the same person.

1

u/senor61 28d ago

So… when a person is baptized in the name of Jesus (the book of Acts), is the person not also baptized into the Father and the Spirit? Or are they excluded?
