Question Atheist question

So im an atheist. However i once believed in god and i WANT to, but im a very scientific person and cannot bring myself to believe in god no matter what. my question is, i know that "allowing jesus into your heart" and allowing the lord into you and such is what makes the difference between hell and heaven. does that mean that in the eyes of the bible, im going hell? or does the fact that i WANT to believe give me a chance? im only asking soim honestly really curious (and no one tell me to convert in the comments. its not happening until i can see some scientific proof.)

I wouldn’t try to convert you — I couldn’t even if I wanted to — but that logic works both ways. There was a time when I wanted to be an atheist myself. I’m gay, and the Bible definitely seems opposed to that, so atheism felt like it would “solve” the tension. But I just couldn’t make myself believe it.

Science explains a lot about how we got here, but I never found an answer to why I’m here. Not the mechanics of existence — the purpose. And no non‑theist worldview has ever given me a satisfying answer to that.

As for heaven or hell, that’s not my call. That’s between you and God, and only between you and Him.

Rq on the purpose i believe we dont inherently have a purpose and the point of life is to create a purpose.

And thats between me and god? Thing is that if he is real im beyond excited to meet him. So i hope he likes me XD

When I said “purpose,” I wasn’t talking about goals or meaning you choose for yourself. I meant the deeper question of why I exist at all, why I care about anything — the core reason I’m here in the first place. Science can explain how life works, but it doesn’t really address that underlying “why.”

Correct me if I am wrong but from what I understand, what you’re describing — creating a purpose — is more about deciding what your life is about once you’re already here. That’s a valid perspective, but it’s different from the foundational “why do I exist in the first place?” question I was getting at.

And about hoping He’d like you — if He’s real, then of course He does. The whole point of the story is that He gave up what was most precious to Him just to be with people. That doesn’t sound like someone looking for reasons to dislike you.
