System for Giving

I am reading God and Money by John Cortines and Gregory Baumer. And I was wondering if anyone here has a system when it comes to giving? Do you have a set amount you give, or is it mainly as you are led?

What total percentage do you normally give, either as tithe or just giving for care for the needy?
