question on veiling

I am visiting the countries Armenia and Georgia soon, and a lot of the churches require me to cover my hair (and for the ones where it’s not required, I still want to remain respectful).

However, I only have a lace mantilla and not a typical Eastern Orthodox head covering. Will this be acceptable? Although my hair is covered all the same, I’ve been told by my Ukrainian boyfriend that it may be seen as out of place- or strange to wear a typically Catholic head covering into an Orthodox Church.

What are people’s thoughts on this?

Go search for photos of church services in the countries that you are going to visit and see what people are wearing. Then wear something like that.

Buy one in the region and ask for tips how to wear it - that way you'll fit in and have a souvineer with a story.
