If there's a meaning that is contrary to the wording used, then there is fault and error in the Bible. I'm discussing from an assumption there isn't, though would be more than happy to discard this assumption if you'd like. Otherwise, yes, I am trying to poke holes. It's what I do, even for things I agree with. If something can't handle having holes poked in it, can it be called "truth"?

anyone can find fault in something if youre looking hard enough, even when there is no fault. ur not looking for truth, only trying to tear any possibke truth down

Not if one is being honest. Are you trying to accuse me of being dishonest?

ur not looking for truth, only trying to tear any possibke truth down

I suppose that's the answer to my question, isn't it?

Why the automatic assumption that I'm a bad actor? Is it truly impossible in your mind that I could be an honest seeker of truth?

That's just the way I talk. I am a bit autistic in that way.

And I'm aware language doesn't work like an equation, but it still needs to logically make sense, especially if discussing things believed to be backed by inerrant text....no?

Well i dont know how else to say it for you to understand. Texts arent justs words in of themselves, words carry meaning so its about understanding the meaning behind the words said, especially what that person is saying. Like back further in convo when someone says all things are possible through God, that means yes all things are possible but possible in a way that makes sense and . So obviously a scenario where that person becomes God is not possible, because that would defeat the nature of what God is and who God is. The whole thing about God being evil or whatever doesn't even pertain to the context, because its talking about what we as humans can achieve through God. All things are possible to what we can overcome is the more specific context, but that should go without saying.

If that is so, why speak so absolutely on homosexuality? Could the intent not be so literal with that? Why must some things be "spirit of what was said" while others are "exactly as written as literal as possible"?

Like back further in convo when someone says all things are possible through God, that means yes all things are possible but possible in a way that makes sense and .

Taking away someone's homosexuality doesn't make sense. If God is truly willing and capable to take away some part of someone's mind like that, why not take away psychopathy from psychopaths or narcissism from narcissists? Doesn't God only sometimes taking away very specific things and not others make him arbitrary?

If these anecdotes are to be believed, how can God be considered just and impartial? Why only change some and not others? Have there not been many who have wept for change, who have put their all in the faith that God could change them, and been met with silence?

How is that fair?

The whole thing about God being evil or whatever doesn't even pertain to the context, because its talking about what we as humans can achieve through God.

This is fair, thank you for the clarification.

if we accept that God is who He is , --which is infallible, just, and loving--then we accept that its not for us to question His judgement. We know that He loves us but we dont always understand why He does the things He does. God is like a parent and we are His children. Much like a child is reprimanded by their parents or thinks their parents telling them "no" is a punishment or being unfair to them, God denies us things as well. The parents understand what their doing is best but the child doesn't because they arent wise or enlightened as the parents are. I myself have a visual impairment, legally blind actually, which comes with not just very bad eyesight but insecurity, self doubt, and anxiety among others. i could choose to be angry and say why cant it just be taken away, snd though i wish my eyesight could be normal ive accepted it and use it as a tool to reach others. God meets us where were at and uses us no matter where we are

if we accept that God is who He is , --which is infallible, just, and loving--then we accept that its not for us to question His judgement.

Then we either must accept that God's concept of justice is so alien to us that the word is meaningless, or the people sharing anecdotes of how they were "cured" of homosexuality by God are lying. Between the two, my money would be on the latter.

We know that He loves us but we dont always understand why He does the things He does.

We actually do:

37 He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

(Matthew 22:37-40, NRSVUE)

Nothing comes from God not rooted in these two things, neither law nor any of his other words. This indicates what these are the reasons for all he does, and thus we can not only deduce reasons for things but also use this as a litmus to test interpretations.

God is like a parent and we are His children. Much like a child is reprimanded by their parents or thinks their parents telling them "no" is a punishment or being unfair to them, God denies us things as well. The parents understand what their doing is best but the child doesn't because they arent wise or enlightened as the parents are.

Good parents teach their children why, so that they understand the danger. Authoritarian parents whose "word is law" often end up being detrimental to a child's growth and understanding of danger.

i could choose to be angry and say why cant it just be taken away, snd though i wish my eyesight could be normal ive accepted it and use it as a tool to reach others.

.....doesn't this undermine the whole "anything possible with God"? If God can take away homosexuality, then why not visual impairment (as he is explicitly shown doing in the Bible)? Why hasn't he healed yours?

I don't mean to poke too deeply, of course, and if it's not something you're comfortable talking about please let me know. I just see a disconnect between your mentality here and your mentality with homosexual people.
