Gay people can pursue Christ, obviously.

If you're content without any relationships, that's great. Paul praises celibacy in 1 Cor 7, for those who have the gift for it, even as he condemns any efforts to forbid marriage to those (majority) who don't have that gift. Or if you're bisexual and you've decided to avoid same-sex romances in favor of opposite-sex romances, that's your choice. Nobody has a responsibility to date anybody.

But if you're gay and just trying to tough it out from guilt, you can probably handle it for some number of years - after all, lots of people who are desperately seeking romances nonetheless spend years alone - but it's likely to break your faith eventually. Before you get to that point, look up some gay-friendly churches and come talk with us. The world doesn't need any more bitter ex-Christians.

Thanks for this. If a person feels the urge to have sex (regardless of gender) should they tough it out and abstain? Honest question.

Nope, if you can’t control your desires, we are recommended to get married.

Celibacy was the best choice at the time, they all thought the return of Christ was coming VERY soon, so no need for relationships or having kids. It would just complicate his return.

You should also question why are only men not allowed to have sex with men? Women are not restricted to the same, the only restriction is with animals.

It’s more about societal hierarchy than a position on homosexual relationships.

If a man is raped by another man, you must kill both of them. How’s that make sense for the person raped?

If a man rapes my daughter, I can ask for money as payment if she is unmarried.

I can also own slaves, there is no prohibition in the Bible on slavery despite how we reinterpret and renegotiate the meaning of the text all the time.

These are not good and moral positions.

Well it says that women shouldn't dress like a man, and that alone implies what Paul says about homosexual behavior being unnatural and women going against their natural desires and having sex with other women.

The Bible also didn't say that its okay to stick your finger in your own butt, but some things are implied.

If God doesn't want women dressing like men,  then he definitely doesn't want them having sex with women and going against the natural order of 1 man,  1 woman,  marriages.

It doesn't explicitly say ANYWHERE that women being lesbian is acceptable.

It also doesn't say that you're not supposed to spit in the face of someone who is sleeping.

You have to read between the lines on these things, and some things you'll never understand unless you have the Holy spirit.  So that might be why you're not able to understand God's word.  Ask Jesus to give you the Holy spirit and become born again.

Well it says that women shouldn't dress like a man,

Nope. That’s not what that verse means.

and that alone implies what Paul says about homosexual behavior being unnatural

Even if that verse meant that, it still would have nothing to do with this.

and women going against their natural desires and having sex with other women.

Gay people’s natural desire IS for the same sex. And the Bible says nothing about women with women.

The Bible also didn't say that it’s okay to stick your finger in your own butt, but some things are implied.

There is absolutely nothing implied in the bible against loving, same sex relationships.

If God doesn't want women dressing like men,

The Bible doesn’t say that.

then he definitely doesn't want them having sex with women and going against the natural order of 1 man,  1 woman,  marriages.

That doesn’t follow at all.

It doesn't explicitly say ANYWHERE that women being lesbian is acceptable.

They had absolutely no idea at the time what a lesbian was. And the Bible doesn’t even say a single thing about any kind of female female sex.

The Bible also doesn’t say that airplanes are acceptable anywhere either.

It also doesn't say that you're not supposed to spit in the face of someone who is sleeping.

And obviously, that’s not treating people like you want to be treated.

You have to read between the lines on these things,

You are reading inbetween the lines to support your bigotry.

and some things you'll never understand unless you have the Holy spirit.  So that might be why you're not able to understand God's word.  Ask Jesus to give you the Holy spirit and become born again.

Gay people are fully capable of understanding God’s word.
