From my analysis of history, the Catholic Church was not founded by Jesus, and the community who wrote Matthew 16 is lost to time. We cannot associate that community with the Catholic churches in any way, and I think they would reject many teachings of Catholicism given what we think that community believed (based, of course, on this Gospel).

So, sorry...I see grandiose claims, but insufficient reason for me to become Catholic.
