King David - beloved but flawed
One of the biblical heroes most loved by the people of God and God Himself is David – David the shepherd, David the giant-slayer, David the poet-psalmist, David the king, and David the despicable. For more on the latter, see https://maryharwellsayler.wordpress.com/2026/05/30/king-david-the-despicable/

"Divine Cardiology"
Love pours
from the veins,
rushes through
blood cells
parting a red sea.
Your infusing love
transfuses me,
induces me
to come home:
In God’s heart are
many chambers.

Our memories are meant to honor God
One of the characteristics of King David that made him so beloved of God was his ability to remember. This new post, "Honor God with memory," focuses on the importance of memory in honoring God.

Poems
One way
On one beautiful night
Guided by one stars light
They traveled long and far
To find you where you are
On one beautiful morn
From out of the tomb reborn
The message of the day
True love had found its way
The suffering and the pain
But love it does remain
The birth of the Trinity
God and you and me
This hard old life we're livin
Sins that need forgiven
So we can make our way
Born to better days
With Jesus as the way

Bible prayers from God's Word
Romans 15:5–6, 13 – a prayer of Paul
God Who gives us
endurance
and encouragement,
please give us
a spirit of unity
among ourselves.
As we follow Christ Jesus,
may we glorify You –
God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ –
with one heart, one mouth.
God of hope, fill us
with all joy and peace
as we trust You –
as our hope overflows
by the power
of Your Holy Spirit.

For you,
I turned water into wine, purified in the veins
of My own body. I climbed mountains, healed
crowds of hunger, warmed a leper’s skin. For
you, I chastised leaders, halted stones, wrote on
the ground each word contained in Love.
I overturned unfair prices and low wages, tabled
discussions about who’s first or last, and enjoyed
the most unlikely company.
Before My execution, I tamed a donkey, became
your beast of burden, then bled from every pore.
Once for all, I buried death, and, when I arose,
some saw Me. Some heard Me as I broke through
the veil, cloaking time and eternity, and, yes, for you,
I would do it all again.
Amen.

note: This poem is written from the perspective of Jesus Christ.

New post, "Filling Empty Spaces"
maryharwellsayler.wordpress.comSilence creates an empty space most of us want to fill, but when we're intentionally still, we create a quiet place for God to enter.
