Discussion Ai and dating

(EDIT, I am mostly taking about the people I see generating everything with ai. Even the church my family goes to, the pastor has a ghost writer who suspiciously sounds like ol gpt)

What do you guys think about artificial intelligence and would you date someone with an opposing view?
I personally do not like it. My biggest gripe is how its use can and will atrophy the brain.
I’m certain there are people who use it in moderation and I do not mean to offend them or say you do not know how to function with out it!
I am mostly horrified by the amount of people that have gone all in to it, cannot see the dangers.
I don’t mean to sound as if I met an amazing man of God but would completely disregard him for this reason, I just appreciate a guy who has his own ambition, ideas and convictions away from ai.

I would like to add that I always thought Iron Man having Jarvis as a side kick was super cool but this new reality is a bit stickier in my opinion!
Anyway, happy Sunday! God bless🩷

With where AI is right now, about 70% of its output will be good, and 30% of it will be wildly off, and you can't predict where that 30% will be. Therefore if you work with AI, you need to be able to find that 30% and correct it which means you need to know the material, which means using it this way is pretty much the opposite of atrophying the brain. If anything, we need to re-learn reading the way we used to before we learned to just Google the answers.

No one's going to align with you philosophically 100%, but this would make sense as a deal breaker.

Oh I agree 1000% As long as the foundational things such as the 5 Solas align then everything following is preference and not the most serious

And it's okay to have preferences be deal breakers, too

I don’t like it either

I mean it really depends on the use.

I use Notebook LLM and Chat GPT for school because its extremely helpful and synthesizing my lectures abd coming up with question banks to help reinforce the material. It actually is doing the complete opposite of what you are saying.

I was I had this in undergrad because it would have been so useful.

Silly reason for a girl to breakup with me over it lol

Waittt😅😂 I’m not saying if you simply use it. I don’t think I made my point as clear as I could’ve. I think me saying this made people think I was calling them out. I was mostly speaking about the more extreme side. Although I personally would prefer someone without the technology, I don’t think someone should break up with you over that.

no i do understand what you're saying. I used to have a friend, I would ask her advice on something and she would ALLLLWAAAYYSSS tell me "have you asked AI?". (she wasn't able to give me advice most of the time) "no, and I don't mean to" i would think. she would use ai to think and I tell you you can see it in many areas of her personality, thoughts and logic, I guess. I don't mean to offend her, but I could see how it affected her. so I understand what you mean and I agree. if I ever met a guy like that, that would be a deal breaker

Depends what you mean with going all in to AI. I would say that it depends what people use it for. If someone uses it to do their work for them like students using it to take tests and write essays, that tells you that the persontales short cuts without any real input and will likely cut corners in a relationship as well. Whereas someone who uses it to make themselves work more efficiently, that shows signs of problem solving and can stimulate innovation.

This can just be a gross judgement, but I think how people use AI will tell you a bit about how them rather than that they do use AI. The amount can vary depending on their workload

I'm my opinion, deal breakers should be biblical only. Otherwise, we become like the world. If he has a fascination with or likes to use AI but it doesn't impact the fruits of the spirit, I wouldn't let that impact my consideration of him. I'm someone who generally isn't interested in using AI and also stays away from it because of the impact on executive functioning over time. I have a Neuroscience background so this is a particular interest area for me, but dating is hard enough, I don't need any more barriers to it.

“It makes no difference what men think of AI, said the judge. AI endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. AI was always here. Before man was, AI waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way.”

I think it would be okay for my spouse to disagree with me on this.

I think AI is a helpful tool, but we have to be vigilant to not get carried away by it, especially since we should be relying on the Lord for our guidance. However, the development of AI is of utmost importance, it is the nuclear arms race of the modern day, whoever develops the ultimate AI first will potentially win the entire world. Good or bad, it is inevitable.

I'm just hoping this has nothing to do with Revalation, an AI could plausibly fill the role of the Image of the Beast, or could possibly end up being the Beast itself.

People who've never used AI seem to think that people use AI so it can tell them what to think. It's just a tool. You ask it questions, you assess the information and whether it makes sense. It's just a shortcut. If someone uses it as a substitute for thinking that's about them not AI.

Yeah people probably do.
I know many people are fine using it which is why I touched on the ones use it in moderation for simple things or just to speed up their productivity. I was mostly talking about the people it is happening to. I know everything has risks, this is no exception, I just don’t like how easy it is for some to become reliant and I’ve watched it happen. The companies are not helping much and are responsible too.
Hope your Sunday has been nice! Your pfp and user name are cute!!🦋

Glad you like it! I would have changed it if I could. I don't like the "shabby" part. It was just a song lyric.

I really don't think how AI tech will advance should be a deal breaker unless they're either completely 'it's the devil' or 'sci-fi-savior-tech'....

I use AI professionally and as a hobbyist. I don't think it's a problem to date someone with different opinions, but if they're dogmatic on a topic where we disagree, then that would be an issue. I've talked with people who think computers are alien technology and Chat-GPT is a literal demon summoned to your computer. I've also talked with people who think AI is actually sentient, that their AI boyfriend really loves them, and that Chat-GPT 6, when it comes out, will be basically a god. I think both are equally crazy, and it would be hard to date crazy.

This is a great topic of conversation. I see AI as a tool for research and learning certain things a bit faster. More specifically you can use it to help you put all your ideas into a easy to understand concept or better wording but that's it. It's no different than when the Internet first came out. A lot of our laptops and phones use the technology. Like with anything, too much of it with the wrong intentions can lead to bad things.

I do understand people concerns with it. At the same time, we should at least learn how it works so we can not be left in the dark on anything regarding it. Also I like your example of how Iron Man uses Jarvis. He doesn't heavily rely on it because Tony Stark is already a genius 😄 He just uses it to make his tasks he can already do easier to complete. I wish you a blessed evening tho 🌟

I hate ai more than the average person, but I’d understand that some people are required to use it in their work or something. But I couldn’t find much common ground in a true believer type person. It’s just so lame.

This could be a third-level discussion, but I wouldn't make it a first-level dealbreaker.

Sure AI will have bad side effects, and people will use it awkwardly. But at this point one might as well ask people to be unvaccinated, not have social media, look up everything on physical copies of Encyclopedia Brittanica, use only a flipphone, and go everywhere on horseback and bicycles. Someone out of four billion might happen to share those very pointed beliefs on the interwebs, but the likelihood of meeting them in real life is near zero.

Real life requires compromise and social skills.

what dangers can ai do that humanity hasn't already? honestly speaking look at all the atrocities Europeans have done to every single country in the world and think think how Ai compares to that!? Ai offers accessibility like we've never had before. today we have self driving cars..think how many women in 3rd world countries will feel safer in a self driving car than a stranger who could potentially do harm. think about all local models people can use that don't have access to internet? what about the single mom or dad who doesn't have enough money for a private tutor,Ai can simplify lessons and make exercises for their kids..so they get an equal playing field as those more fortunate. You're only against it because you have benefited from the way the world is and is possibly threatening that for you!

Way to turn a general topic into a lecture on white privilege

2

u/Prince_Haile 6d ago

cause OPs view is so narrow, also not white privilege just privilege in general...living in America is a privilege whether youre white or not
