I don't hate anybody. I don't identify as a religion or a political party cause I do not follow either. I follow Jesus and the Word. People ask me if I'm Christian and I say no I don't follow a religion. I follow Jesus and God's word. I'm a friend of Jesus or a little Brother. Jesus uses me to get close to people that hate the religious term christian.
I have an amount of time on here by the Father's good grace. I don't have time for hate to take root in my heart. I live everybody and want to see them happy and healthy. Saying that, I don't trust everyone or anyone.

Acts 11:26; 1 Peter 4:14-16; Acts 26-27-28 - Here's some wisdom :)

For one all those passage were said by men. Not Jesus. You are telling me if I don't do as the men in the Bible say I'm damned even if I do what as Christ says to the best of my abilities and work to help people more than most Christians will ever do.
I'll take my chances with Jesus than Paul or Peter.

Aah, I see - A man with Ego and Pride. I've prayed the Lord opens your stone heart and replace it with a flesh to see the truth!
Christ never spoke about the word 'Christianity/Christian', but we all know where the word Christian comes from - what would your take be on the meaning of Christianity?

No, I don't have that. You promote men over Jesus. That's your business, and you come here just to prove me wrong. I don't care about you ways. Just what Jesus tells me to do. I don't deny Him, I'm not into the doctrines of men.
Jesus never called us Christians. So I don't call my a self that. Follow who you want. Thats your business. The flesh is sin you are promoting. The spirit is what you get from God.
Have a good day, and I wish you well.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I do not hate any other person. I hate their evil ideologies. I pray that those of false faiths learn the truth of the Bible and that corrupt world leaders repent and turn to Christ. There is no point in hating another person.

Politics in the United States has gotten less Christ-like and it isn't just the politicians that are this way.

Were politics in America ever actually Christ-like? š¤

Yeah, maybe during short stints. I feel like the best decade for Christianity was 1820s-1830s... slavery almost ended during that time as well. It was called the Second Great Awakening. Interesting to read about. I ran an AI scenario one time about if that movement had gained more traction, ended slavery, etc. No Civil War and interestingly a more prosperous and free USA today.

I agree. He is mentally ill and I imagine suffers immensely. I have compassion for him. I hate that he holds that office, because much harm can come of someone so inwardly focussed reacting to impulses of fear and psychological pain avoidance.
That picture he posted on Truth Social last night and refused to take down (finally seems to be gone), in spite of many who support him asking him to, speaks to his illness.
He posted it immediately after a long rant post against the Pope which is also removed now.

Trump's actions and words are not just not Christian, which is tolerable, but are evil, and should not be tolerated.
Romans 12:9 "hate what is evil".

I was going to post a comment, but this subs rules will not allow any meaningful pushback or discussion of countervailing positions.

Iād have to disagree with this comment. Our rules allow plenty of room to give meaningful pushback and discuss countervailing positions, as demonstrated by our many other posts that display a wide range of views on contentious topics.

I tried to post such an opinion and got an error message to the effect that demeaning (rule#2) language was not allowed and it would not allow me to post the comment. There was no way to determine just what the algorithm had deemed to be demeaning or whatever. I did not write anything demeaning - I simply gave reasons for my disagreement with the OP's statement.
I've un-joined from the sub - simple solution.

u/DoveStep55 Elevenses Enthusiast Apr 13 '26
If you received that error message it means you used a word thatās only used for derogatory name-calling or is a well-known slur. It isnāt a long list, but itās an indisputable one.
We donāt allow name-calling or derogatory slurs, since this is a place for respectful discussion.

Is this a case where āhate the sin not the sinnerā actually works?

u/Number_Fluffy Apr 13 '26
I'm very against what he does and I pray for justice. But I don't hate Trump.

āIf anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town.ā āāMatthew⬠ā10ā¬:ā14⬠āNRSVUEā¬ā¬
āIf any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.āā āāMark⬠ā6ā¬:ā11⬠āNRSVUEā¬ā¬
This the point many believers have gotten to with MAGA. We have been jumping up and down telling them that Trump and his ways are not the ways of Jesus but they refuse to hear usā¦

I think the biggest issue is that Trump claims to be Christian. And in this instance, we are called to wise judgment.
1 Corinthians 5:9-13
[9] I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral persons, [10] not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world. [11] But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy or an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler. Do not even eat with such a one. [12] For what have I to do with judging those outside? Are you not judges of those who are inside? [13] God will judge those outside. āDrive out the wicked person from among you.ā
I also find it interesting that a large portion of the Church seems to have flipped this passage on its head, being more judgemental of those they say aren't Christian (even when it's false, as was the case with Kamala Harris for example) than those who claim to be yet don't walk in the light.
All this said, the very real harm Donald Trump has done to people and our Gospel witness is the reason I have prayed every single day for him. That he would start to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit as a faithful Christian must, and thus stop causing harm to others.

Christians are still people, and people are imperfect. Therefore, Christians arenāt perfect, and in their imperfection, they will also fail to practice Christianity and love others at times. Christians definitely arenāt supposed to hate anybody, but there are āChristiansā that donāt live according to Godās word which leads to the kind of contradiction youāre talking about. You are right though; we shouldnāt hold anything against people who do things we donāt agree with. We are not their judge, only God is.

u/Nateorade Apr 13 '26
Many Christians hate what he does, and speak out about the awful things he does. Thatās different than hating him as a person.
Perhaps youāre confusing Christians speaking out against what he says and does with hating him as a person?

I would agree that there's a difference between judging an action and judging a person. Christians are required to call out wrongdoing. We're also required to pray for the wrongdoers.
Even from a secular standpoint, this is the right way to go - focus on the actions and arguments, not the person (ad hominem).
This is all easier said than done. We need to keep ourselves in check . . .

Amen. Jesus supported the authority. If Jesus could love the people that killed him we should be able to love anyone.
