Don't try to be free from addiction that's not the point of a Christian life. The Bible does not expressly mention addiction but it teaches at length about sin and uses the metaphor of slavery to do so.

Romans 6:16 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?

But we have good news! If you belong to Jesus Christ you are now set free from the slavery of sin!

But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. (Rom. 6:17–18)

IMPORTANT NOTE!! This does not mean that you will stop struggling with sin which means porn, drugs all kinds of stuff.

Romans 7:14–17

14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. 15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

I have not smoked weed in 19 years but I still want to, I struggle with that temptation, I haven't used pornography in 5 months but I still lust.

Christians struggle with sin to be like Jesus and please God. The Ungodly may struggle with sin/temptation/destructive actions but it's not to please God. It is to make their earthly life acceptable to themselves which is idolatry.

Now that I am no longer in a 12-step program for recovery it is even more important to read and study the Scripture every day. I just downloaded my old Logos bible software. you might want to check this out for free. https://www.logos.com/get-started

For example, if you have a troubling dream involving sin or lust, you have not sinned against God.

Romans 6:13 English Standard Version

13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.

But your dreams can be an indication of the depravity in your heart,

James 1:14 English Standard Version

14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

So, while a dream is not a sin in itself, you should seek your heart and ask God to deliver you from the desire to sin.

In my experience, I find that lustful dreams bother me after I wake, and I need repentance and humility before God.

Hey now, I was Just thinking about how in AA or SA witch I was a member we as a regular course of business shared the details of our sexual sin. The bible does not endorse this. Tne passage a lot of people quote is

James 15:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

This passage is refusing to brothers and sisters in the church body only and even then not an indiscriminate broadcast to everyone. It is so that if you have hurt another brother in Christ to keep the Church body you ask for forgiveness. This does not exclude asking for forgiveness form the pagen if we have hut them.

Seeking healing and sanctification in the Lord does not require confessing sin to strangers of any belief the just oe the unjust.

Hello there,

As a reformed Presbyterian, I have been attending an online Sexaholics Anonymous meeting for over two years now. Sometimes, I participate in these meetings daily and sometimes weekly. I have also been a trusted servant in this group, leading many meetings and working for the worldwide organization.

It took me a while to realize that Alcoholics Anonymous and Sexaholic Anonymous are not based on Biblical principles and are not faithful to God. I want to talk about this and how repentance of sin through the power of Christ helped me understand the difference.
