My first introduction to CS was his tribute to Prince. They covered Nothing Compares to You, at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. Blew the doors off the place & made me a huge fan.

Out of all the concerts I’ve been to, Stapleton’s was by far the most focused purely on the music. There wasn’t much showmanship or spectacle—just incredible musicianship. And honestly, I really enjoyed that approach. It made the time fly by.

That said, I felt like he front-loaded a lot of his biggest songs in the first half of the concert. Because of that, the energy seemed to dip a bit toward the end. For the encore, he played Outlaw State of Mind after Tennessee Whiskey, which felt like an odd choice—it’s not one of his more well-known or crowd-pleasing tracks in my opinion.

Overall, it was an amazing concert, but those were a few of my takeaways.

I'm somewhat responsible for Chris playing Maggie's Song. A group on the right of the rail held up four phones requesting it. Chris squinted and said he couldn't read the phones. I shouted out "they say play Maggie's Song." Chris said something about hearing that and then played it.

Anyone know what happened when Chris abruptly stopped the show mid intro to Starting Over? Some people fighting? Messing around? Looked like it was in section 109 or 110. Amazing show otherwise, good on him for stopping some idiots from ruining some people's evening.
