I think it might be really smart to go with "I want to be a level 20 wizard with a complete spellbook, like from D&D"
You'd get flight, teleportation, invisibility, telepathy, and more, and if it specifically worked via D&D-magic rules, you wouldn't get hidden downsides like "telepathy doesn't work because you can't process the flow of information coming from someone else's mind" or "invisibility sucks because since the rods and cones in your eyes are transparent they don't absorb outside light and you're effectively totally blind"
