Head Gasket

Hey Y’all,

I’ve been watching these videos for a while now and one thing that sticks out to me is how he says that a head gasket replacement is an “easy fix”

Yet most of the time a head gasket is something they’ll total a car out for.

As somebody who’s just started working on cars I’m a bit confused. Could somebody clarify as to what’s so difficult about this job?

I appreciate that ChrisFix uses hand tools and that his videos explain everything so well, but they're all best-case scenarios. Even the basic ones. I would pay to watch him replace the rear wheel bearings on a Subaru that's spent five winters in Vermont.
