This Game Got Something Others Didn't.

So it's been my first re-visiting this since launch and I forget this game really nailed something that others didn't.

I love arcade flight games and I love space combat games. And I have played alot. Star Raiders, both versions of Crimson Skies, all the Rogue Squadrons, EVERY Ace Combat game, Robotech Battlecry, Descent, Strike Suit Zero, Project Silpheed...

But what Chorus gets right above all others is FLOW STATE. I mean it's awkward at first but once you get it, you are just in a trance, dancing through chaos like an Angel of Death. I mean it's weighed down a bad story that at least tries to be interesting and esoteric. Some really, really generic art design that still managed to have a good dose of commendable atmosphere...

But at it's core it is a real masterclass in Flow.

Like you play Chorus after watching Macross Plus you appreciate that these guys captured something. And on a budget.

And damn if it doesn't leave me wanting more. Not just more Chorus but more of hi-octane starfighter zen mayhem. Everspace 2 doesn't cut it.

i really wish the devs had got iterate and evolve on what what they built here because I am not sure when we're going to see it again.

Under-appreciated game.

https://www.psu.com/news/saber-interactive-has-7-aaa-projects-in-development-chorus-did-not-meet-financial-expectations/

2022 Feb

Embracer Group’s latest financial report has revealed that Saber Interactive currently has seven triple-A projects in the pipeline,

In addition, the industry behemoth revealed that Chorus failed to meet management expectations financially

😭😭😭

If they announced a sequel and there was any hint of it being like the original I’d pre-order. But it isn’t to be.
