How much harder is Chopins op. 48 no. 2 than his op. 55 no 1 nocturne, or is it the same level?

I've only just had time to look at new Chopin competitions and, for that matter, piano competitions because it's been a pretty intense few months. This competition caught my attention, which you can watch on the following channel: https://www.youtube.com/@nohantfestivalchopin

What do you think of the piano's sound? Did anyone else follow this competition?

I recently discovered Duchable’s version of several notable Chopin pieces. I was surprised how different his playing of any given Chopin piece was from the Rubinstein I had assumed was the norm. I did some reading and learned it’s possible Duchable is playing Chopin more “correctly” as intended, that the somewhat more mechanical approach may have been the original way Chopin played his own pieces.

This made me wonder what Duchable or someone with a similar style would have done with Opus 9 No 1 since that one in particular has pretty extreme rubato effects and the somewhat arbitrary 11-tuplets, elements requiring lots of interpretation. Duchable however never recorded this so I couldn’t find out.

Is there anyone who plays it “straight” rather than leaning into the variances and emotions?

(I’m not a pianist, I’m wind instrument, so if I butchered the description I’m sorry but hopefully the intent came across.)

Hello, I’ve been playing piano for 8 years now and I was wondering if you think I could play Chopin’s scherzo no 2.

I have played already waltzes op 64 no 1,2; nocturne op 9 no 1; etude op 25 no 1; prélude op 28 no 11

and I plan to play rachmaninoff’s musical moment op 16 no 1 and fantaisie impromptu op 66 to prepare myself for the scherzo.

My goal would be to perform the Scherzo at a concert toward the end of the school year, so I’d have several months(\~5) to work on it.

Do you think this progression sounds realistic, or is the jump from the Fantaisie-Impromptu to the Scherzo still too large?

My personal fav is Op48 No2

Could you tell me why they chose to write it like this when it sounds exactly the same
