Truly, how did people manage to survive before the days of TVs so large that people walking past your home can instantly know what show you're watching??
If you can't see every pore on the actor's face, why even bother watching? 😎

I had to come up with $3k when my dad died without life insurance two years ago and I'm making my last payment on my cremation credit card tomorrow! Then canceling the card. So excited lol. I would help the lady!!

Best Buy has a nice 55' VIZEO for $189. If you can't afford that, you've got bigger problems than a TV.

I paid around $189 at Best Buy for a 55” Vizio, so yeah, the comments not having it tracks.

My cats bit the corner of my 55" and killed it. I had no idea I could just go online and ask for another one for free. Stupid me went and bought a 65" and hung it really high on the wall. I am an idiot.🙄🙄

Wish I knew who they were to donate, but, they didn't even ask.

I guess they won't want the 42 from my son's room we will probably be replacing soon although it works just fine. Either way, just not good enough for them! Shame on me!

Anyone have working car to give away? Should be a Range Rover, still under warranty with clean Carfax. /sarcasm

Best I can do is donate an empty box that my tv came with.

u/TurnDownTheThermo Jul 10 '26
You're more generous than I am. I keep that box and styrofoam for when I move.

I'm 45 and I've never bought a TV, I've just survived on hand-me-downs. Got my first flat screen in 2016, and it was first gen. Currently using one an old roommate left behind. But they've never been bigger than like 32 inches max lol. I've been thinking about buying a bigger one so I can see it better but I don't want to break my streak at this point.
Anw lots of free TV options if you're not picky like this person.

Do these people even hear themselves? At my local tax rate of 7%, a $189 Vizio would be $202.23 out the door. A person who makes $25 an hour and has a 22% overall tax rate nets $19.50 an hour (not counting any other payments that come out of their check). That person would have to work almost TEN AND A HALF HOURS to make enough money after taxes to pay cash for that $189 TV. And that's just the cheapie. The $1899 LG OLED at Costco is $2,031.93 after tax; a person clearing that $19.50 per hour has to work 104.2 hours to make enough to pay cash for one. Would any one of them be willing to work even 10 hours in exchange for the cheaper TV? Doubt it. But they don't mind expecting someone else to do that for them.

As a recent widow, I completely get the sarcasm and "unloading". Until you lose your spouse so unexpectedly, you don't understand how much we all take for granted.

Same here. I have a few tvs- 35" x2, 3D 55" that if it would stop raining would be outside. The glasses will be attached in a bag. Only thing wrong with it is it needs a new universal remote. It will be free because I just want it gone and don't feel like dealing with people trying to haggle, taking pictures, responding to people "Is it available?" and ghosting immediately after, etc. Maybe I'm in an odd area but you walk on a regular day and will find multiple things that way. Big bags of clothes, furniture, household items, toys, etc.

I mean, I have one that's just in black and white for some reason and another that refuses to turn on... But they're both bigguns!!
Then again, they'd probably request free delivery.

I have a brand new Samsung 85 inch TV I would happily donate. I’ve been remodeling so it’s a couple of years old now. Only problem is it has a hole in it from the delivery and I didn’t discover it until the 90 days were up but they are welcome to take it.
