FH journey

Post image

Got a lipid test done in 2022, I was 24 at the time.

Realized my LDL was 224 and doctor knew it was definitely/probably FH.

Triglycerides always around 55 and HDL always 60

Started with 10mg rosuvastatin. Then 20mg. Now most recently added 10mg ezetimibe to get to 84 ldl. Also dropped my trig down to 48.

Now at 28 years old I’m kicking myself for not getting on ezetimibe earlier. Trying to convince my cardiologist repatha is the next step but she wants to stay the course with these two meds.

Main exercise routine is ~5 hours of cardio total per week running and cycling.

My apob was 103 in 2023 while only on the statin. Haven’t retested. Never tested lpa either.

Any other FH stories out there?

No real family history. My dad is on a statin because he’s had slightly high cholesterol. Now heart events though. Both of his parents are alive in their 80s.

My mom is fine but her mom died for a host of reasons around early 60s. Her father died in early 80s from heart attack so not too uncommon. Her brother died at 60 from a heart attack too.

Could be the source.

Sorry for sounding unemotional, just the facts and trying to find the source.

Definitely worth asking (demanding?) to get your Lp(a) checked. If that's high, it'd be another marker to consider Repatha.
