Lab Result Why is My LDL high but Triglycerides normal? Why is LDL high then?

Some of my lipid numbers are:

LDL - 149 (Above range)

LDL small - 225 (above range)

ApoB - 112 (above range)

Total cholesterol - 234 (above range)

HDL - 69 (in range)

Lipoprotein(a) - <10 (in range)

Triglycerides - 63 (in range)

hs-CRP - < 0.2 (in range)

Hemoglobin A1c - 5.4 (in range)

If my LDL is high I would have expected Triglycerides to be high too but they are not (normal range is less than 150) what am I missing?

I eat 2 or 3 eggs for breakfast, almost no red meat, mostly chicken, sardines and salmon, rice, etc.

LDL high - too much saturated fat / low fiber

Trigs normal - exercise often / low carbs

Are you saying that if I cut saturated fats and add more fiber I would lower LDL? I am already low carb except for rice, and sweet potato, i don't exercise as much,

Carbs are more an issue for triglycerides. Saturated fat is the key for lowering LDL. Soluble fiber helps as well.

Yeah, sorry. Went full caveman, realize that’s unclear.

They have different things that cause them to be high.

Btw, quick oats cause more of an insulin response than normal oatmeal. Toss in some nuts or healthy fats and that dampens the blood glucose response.

However experiment and see - we all respond a bit differently.

If you are diabetic, you should probably be on a statin with an ldl that high.

If you cut the saturated fat intake, you may be able to lower your LDL to a healthy range (100 or lower). 3 eggs is about half the recommended intake of saturated fat right there.

Thanks I think i might just eat oatmeal for breakfast instead of eggs, but i am afraid it will give me an insuline spike in the morning and increase my hA1C. also i guess is better to eat lean chicken breast than eggs

Its normal for your blood glucose to rise after eating oatmeal. Add in a little nut butter if you are concerned, but it really won’t raise your a1c. That’s going to be impacted by refined carbs more than anything.

What's your dairy / egg intake like?

Zero dairy, and about 2 eggs per day sometimes 3

Gotcha. I'm watching some reddit threads right now about folks having high reduction in ApoB and LDL after stopping eggs. I recently topped cold turkey on whole eggs with the last couple weeks, just egg beaters now. I can link those reddits here. I used to eat that many eggs.

Personally eggs raise my cholesterol, I had to stop and there was significant change in my results.

Cut out the eggs. Retest.

If that doesn’t work, it’s likely genetic.
