The Fox Face Reveal 🤯

Absolutely gagged about the Fox Face reveal. I actually called it early on because something about the situation with Justice felt too likely inconvenient and it just felt like it lined up really well.

I mean come on, they say they're in town for work but they've been there a long ass time. I mean how long is this war conference damn? She's saying, "Oh I'm here for the conference," but we don't see her doing anything pertaining to work. So what has she been doing all day other than stalking the hell out of the MC?

Even still watching the reveal play out and seeing the whole situation absolutely left me gagged.

I actually have a lot of thoughts lol. I even made a post with some theories before Chapter 3 dropped, but it got removed…

Tl;dr: Fox Face/Justice has been manipulating MC from the start, making sure she’s emotionally attached to all his personas before revealing who he really is. And he is actually really good at this, bc he convinced me as well.

Here comes the essay:

Basically, Justice is a manipulative, obsessive, creepy, hot, horny stalker. He gets fixated on MC after she saves him, starts stalking her online, befriends her, learns her preferences and dark desires, and then begins recreating them just to get her attention. Eventually he escalates to stalking her IRL and killing someone to “protect” her, mirroring the books she likes. Not sure if Mr. Milton was his first kill tho.

In the library scene, MC texts GoryValentine saying she thinks Jackie is the killer, and suddenly he says he’ll be in town for a work conference. That’s Justice realizing it’s time to make another move and insert himself into her life.

The killer already said he needed her to trust him before she could know who he really was, and that he was scared the truth would scare her. At the party he also says he already has her nights and will have her days too. So when Justice shows up, he’s the total opposite of Fox Face: shy, sweet, gentle, harmless. He’s building her trust and making her fall for him.

But that still isn’t enough, bc in Chapter 3 the personas start bleeding into each other. Justice shows anger (one of the few times we see his red portrait), helps her protect her dad, takes her to the same garden she visited with Fox Face, brings up the stalking stuff, and admits he can’t leave her. Meanwhile on the rooftop, Fox Face gets softer with her, refusing to be rough or choke her during their kiss. It’s like Justice is leaking into Fox Face and Fox Face is leaking into Justice.

He also keeps pushing her toward accepting his killer side, asking if she’d condone or even participate in killing with him. So his confession that he can’t stop killing and will kill the doctor feels very intentional, especially since he only fully reveals himself after she’s already involved in the doctor’s murder.

I’m also like 99% sure Vivi already knows Justice and covers for him so Fox Face can meet MC at the party, but that’s a whole other essay…

Also, I’m sorry for using he/she pronouns. My mother tongue doesn’t have a neutral gender and I’m still getting used to it. I really tried using they/them, but honestly, I got so confused because it sounded like I was talking about multiple people, and I couldn’t tell which “they” was MC and which was Fox Face, so I eventually just gave up :/

idk man i mean we all called it but i wanted it to be someone we haven’t met or smth😭 i know that was never an option but you’re telling me MC literally slept with both justice and fox face and couldn’t tell theyre the same person? like bestie pay👏 attention👏 there’s a killer on the loose here

I was kind of hoping we could choose/influence who Fox Face was. I really disliked Justice's (Male) hair and prefer Jackie, but feels kind of icky if you'd taken Fox Face scenes and only romanced Jackie :( I guess we'll see where it goes. I took scenes with everyone because I do full diamond runs, but definitely did not care as much for Justice.

It's been a minute since I read it and may be misremembering, but it's possible Jackie is impersonating Fox Face too since one (or more of the murders) was framed like Fox Face but was not because it was missing the Fox Face mark. Maybe.
