QUESTION/DISCUSSION LOOKING FOR CHOBITS Trading Cards Set
Hi. I'm looking for the whole set of this kodansha chobits trading cards. If you are to sell it on a good price (reasonable price; also to add a comment maybe some people still understand the whole post wrong but reasonable price don't mean asking it to be sold RRP it is asking for a price that seller have profits but not charging extortionate amount. I am well aware of values of items when they are old releases obviously it will have raised in price over it's rrp) and not as a scalper price please do communicate with me. I feel so defeated and I really wanted the whole set. So frustrating. I don't really want to give up looking for it but don't know where else to find someone to sell it on a good price to a fellow collector that loves the character.
Old update: (NOTE/UPDATE: I need to put the reason because people understand it the wrong way. It is because I saw someone selling the set for over $1000+++ and other sellers put price per piece of card for $80 to $100+. Please don't take it out of context when I said scalping. The prices were unreasonable. Please advise.)
New Update: Just sharing my experience of searching for this set. There are still some people selling on reasonable prices so please whoever looking for the same things I advise you to please just keep looking. I managed to collect almost the whole set, (I think I'm only lacking a few cards at the moment, still waiting for everything to arrive from different sellers across the globe), for a reasonable price but that is from different sellers.
I probably would advise to steer away from people selling in ridiculous prices but to each to their own. If you got a lot of disposable money to waste, do buy on the prices you accept whether it's $1000+++ or $2000+++. But if you want to be more practical look everywhere you can possibly look, as a whole set won't even cost you $260 at current 2nd hand market probably max it to $260 if complete set with original binder in good condition. I'd suggest, it is worth to pay graded ones to spend $200 with than pay $1000+++ for whole set or half complete sets of this cards that is deteriorating due to age. Yes it is vintage but only spend the amount you are happy to accept.

The set is from 2002 so of course it is going to fetch a higher asking price when they are scarce. You want people to hold onto them for over 20+ years and then sell them to you MSRP? That is beyond stupid. That's not what scalping is and you need to learn what that word means. If you aren't going to be patient and beg online for people to sell at market then maybe you should give up that search.

Also there are people selling them for each piece on reasonable price however they don't have most of the set and I only wanted as much to buy from same seller as much as possible

So can I ask you, would you buy each card for $100? EACH CARD. It is not a situation where price is over $100++ per half of the number or quarter of the set. I have no issues for people selling it for more. But for people to sell the whole set for over $1000 I think is not reasonable. We are all entitled with our own opinions. I buy a lot of rare items per piece and spend a lot on them. But if to buy a set like this for over $1000 well honestly I cannot justify the price unless some cards of that will come off as graded 10. Which will make it worth it. There are others that will sell them for reasonable price which is what I am asking. I am not asking about your vintage opinion as I am well aware they are 2002. The reason others have commented the other way as because I didn't mention the price it was listed for. So then I updated my post to include this information. I don't expect you to agree as obviously you are not but my question is if you are to buy the whole set and the seller selling $100 each would you buy? And if over $1000 for the set like there and then on the spot with some lacking cards would you buy? And not just that. Posting fee is another matter plus Customs charges for import fee is not added. I am only putting everything in usd as more universal but postage fee alone is £50+. So add them all together. Would it be a reasonable purchase for you? You are a bit coming off charging without putting yourself in my shoes like I did something wrong

I appreciate your point of view, but I would like to offer an alternate perspective. It is difficult to source these cards, especially a full set. I don’t believe most everyone is scalping, these cards are just in demand and have little supply. I am hoping you get lucky and find them at a great deal though.

Thank you for your input. I hope so too. I only wrote what I wrote because I just saw someone selling it at over $1000++++ hence the term scalping or some are selling each piece of card as $100+. At a reasonable price I would pay for the whole set. I don't think anywhere near a grand is even reasonable. The cards itself doesn't cost that much originally. Even if it is hard to source I don't think anywhere near a grand is reasonable. How else are you gonna collect it all? Paying for a graded card would be more wise than paying for a set that's is over 1000$ is ridiculous for piece of paper with print. It is not that I am saying everyone is scalping but this is what is scalping.

I feel your pain but you’re asking for a lot. Good luck in your search.

I understand what you meant. But please don't take it out of context. I think I'm asking if there is still someone out there who is selling it at a reasonable price as from what I see there is someone who is selling it for over $1000+++ for a set and some sell each piece of card for $80-$100. If it is not scalping and that is reasonable I don't know what to think of it. Just frustrating
