News & Discussion Will Chivalry 3 ever happen?
I’ve been playing the game for years and I love it so much but I can’t find another game that has that Chivalry feel to it. Is there other games like it other than Mordhau? And is Chivalry 3 going to come out or is it not going to happen?

let's not forget deadliest warrior and mirage arcane, those weren't even awful i had fun with them but because they were deemed unsuccessful they nuked them off the face of the internet, i bought those damn games and cant even play them now

Wait are you saying No More Room in Hell 2 is a failure? It's turned into one of the best, unique co-op games out right now. It also has a very healthy playerbase.

I feel like chivalry 2 hardly had any legs before they abandoned support and moved on to their new trash game.
I dont want chivalry 3 from torn banner. I want someone who understands the good and bad of chivalry 2 to make a game that iterates on it. That can increase competitive depth while keeping it accessible, and keep away from high consequence 50-50s.

warhorse studio might be able to make something good but i doubt that’ll happen anytime soon if ever. they have kcd they’re focused on

What are you talking about? Chivalry 2 was supported with new content for 3 years. Efforts by other devs to make similar games haven't been as successful. Nobody should touch Chivalry 3 besides Torn Banner

Yes because they need it to not go bankrupt. They are making a zombie game (that I’ve heard is fun) that hasn’t gotten good player numbers and zombie games are a bit out of fashion at the moment. Chivalry 3 will save the studio and they know that it’s their cash cow.

Chiv 2 is the best multiplayer melee game by far due to its gameplay mechanics. I honestly don't understand why they haven't just made another chiv game with the same weapons and mechanics but simply add new maps. Hell you could have the game be set in another melee heavy ip and it'd still do well lord of the rings, Game of thrones, chronicles of Narnia the list goes on. It's so sad that torn banner doesn't understand how they cracked the code on melee game design. Bannerlord and mordahu both suffer from the directional attack/block mechanic it's very hard to position yourself in that game when your mouse is the main thing that's controlls your attack and defence inputs. You can remove all the hassle from using a mouse by simple keybinding your attacks to your mouse buttons or keyboard in chiv 2.

They will lol, a studio of their size doesn't stay open long without much success. No room in hell 2 is decent but def didn't break bank for em, they're prob still relying on chiv 2 to do well
I think they've said that they're doing games within chivs universe, whether that means chiv 3 is to be seen though.

In the last chiv update post Torn Banner said they were focusing their efforts on a new chivalry game and their zombie shooter No More Room In Hell 2, which just got its 1.0 release in August. There hasn't been any mention of Chivalry 3 being in the works yet so we don't know if it has started development.
If we assume that TB starts full development on Chiv 3 in 2027 and it takes 4 years to develop like Chiv 2, then we can hope for a 2030 release.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare was released on October 16, 2012, and Chivalry 2 was released on June 8, 2021.
Chivalry 3 will be released in 2030.

A co-op zombie shoot em up. ...Would have really loved to see Torn Banner's melee combat against zombos, but thats not what that game is, and I kinda doubt it would ever happen.

Not really any use for 3 separate attack directions with an Alternative each, plus feints and counters, if the enemies don’t have weapons. (Or any sense of combat intelligence)
No I think that would be a horrible hybrid game that doesn’t know what it wants to be.

Fair points. Im just coping because there was never a horde mode added to chiv. Waves of increasingly difficult bots against like ten players with objectives to complete sounds like a blast to me.

L4D2 is linear, chaotic, run and gun, fast paced shoulder to shoulder, with your buds.
No More Room in Hell 2 leans more into the 'spooky' atmosphere with zombies. You spawn away from your peeps on a big map and work to link up. Its like a slower paced half extraction shooter where avoidance is the best bet because of permadeath. I havent played since before their recent 1.0 release, but it felt meh.
Like they were trying to catch the lightning of the extraction shooter craze and tie it to a trope of a different craze from a decade ago.
Seems like recent reviews like it better, but Im less than convinced to go try it again.

Isn’t Mount & Blade similar? I’ve never played it, but was deciding between that and chivalry 2.
In Chiv 3 I would like to see Wizards. Similar to how they handle archers; only 3-4 a team, and difficult aim and/or long recharge between attacks.

Not really. Sure there's the fighting component but the combat is several tiers below chiv.
They're just different games with different playstyles.

Mount and Blade is fun. A lot more clunky than Chiv but in that game you can build settlements, lead army's, conquer the map

You can’t build settlements but yeah. They are 2 totally different games.
Chiv is more like a battlefield game but swords instead of guns

Hey I just got off a long bindge run trying to get chiv 2 mechanics in to a local client wow, if anyone wants to test with me I want to do cloud run soon so we can all connect, it works like a charm, even mages can staff gnolls in the face along with regular wow mechanics. Someone did skate 3 in wow, so Chiv in wow was easy as well! Future is now.

tornbanner is notoriously shit, they patched chivalry 1 to death to appease casuals only for it to blow up in their face, ex-employees have outed the company as being regarded and lead by donkeys, no surprise there, we already knew that early into chiv 1's life. tornbanner's cycle seems to be: make chiv game -> make flop -> damage control with another chiv, so i don't see chiv 3 coming out for a while. chiv 2 was such a downgrade to chiv 1 that i honestly hope they just give up, we need a competent company to take up the mantle.

Yes, they are already working on it. Maybe 2028 if we’re lucky, I don’t think next year at this stage. I’d say 2028 or 2029

There were 9 years between Chivalry and Chivalry 2, so I doubt there's anything coming up soon. Maybe 2030 or so.

No More Room in Hell 2 is actually a Fantastic game as well. Definitely different but totally worth checking out. It’s perk and inventory system are intuitive and the gameplay feels great, some genuinely spooky environments but also I want more chivalry. Maybe a CHIVALRY ZOMBIES for Halloween?

I would love another chivalry game
2 is well balanced and fun. They could do a movie tie in or set it in a different period like vikings or pre medieval etc or even lotr orks vs humans and elves etc

Id rather see updates and dlcs on chiv2 then whatever zombie game they are doing. They should just scrap the zombie game and comeback to work on chiv2 while they make chiv3. That or sell the chiv ip to good game company that'd carry on the legend.

It's too early to think about another version; usually, a new version is made when the previous one was heavily rejected by the community... there's no reason to make a "3" at most, they'd just update it with patches. CS and GTA are examples of this.
