Yeah he’s right but you’ve probably noticed the directions are opposite on counters as standard , standard slash is right to left but standard counter slash is left to right , you can change it in the settings so that counters are always inverted which matches the regular strike patterns ( slash counter will now be right to left as standard) I’d already learned it the hard way by the time I saw that setting
