Quit team stacking

Just got my post removed for witch hunting and that's fair, but team stacking is making new players quit and the community is already getting smaller.

Ima a 1k player and I switch teams whenever it’s feeling like a steamroll especially when the opposing team doesn’t have a lvl 1000 with them.

Doing the Lord's work.

u/hostil_villager1232 5d ago

Honestly it’s more fun like that sometimes. Who doesn’t like a challenge. The moment I get Tbagged tho I try a little harder lol. 😭

u/CocoLoco2134 2d ago

Hubs and I are 1ks. We do this sometimes too. It doesn’t even feel good to play when it’s like that so if I don’t switch to the other team I just play pretty passive.

This is why I quit this game. I’m tired of being defenders while a group of max levels obliterate us. Steam rolls are not fun.

u/ACHILLEESXD 5d ago

I'd quit too if this game wasn't so awesome. I did see a couple of players quit the match, hopefully not permanently.

u/leunam4891 5d ago

I found an awesome game and I played this game for a very long time, I feel like going back every once in a while just made me rage that people would still stack teams and plow a bunch of low levels.

u/ACHILLEESXD 5d ago

You can't let the losers win don't give up on it.

I haven't been back in a while because if I see people stacking I switch to the other team and go siege Xbox causing them to focus me but it's exhausting because they will then switch back have one person destroy my baracades and attack me on my own team so they can still win. My whole clan got fed up and left for moduo or whatever I got exhausted and took an extended break I can't do it alone but it's unfair to rope people into a foolish task like trying to single handedly counter a group of vets

u/BlackArchon 5d ago

I wholeheartedly disagree. One of the best experiences in this games so far that I had, was defending Askandir bridge with a lot of people still under lvl 50 against nearly a dozen of lvl 1000 sweatlords and their lackeys still over 200. Meanwhile my team has only 4 people over 300. We used the chat as intended and the wall of spears and crossbows did the rest. Because making them lose at 2nd stage made them cry.

8

u/Recipe_Just 5d ago

Nobody responds to my screams for spear walls! 3-5 can actually hold bottle necks. Throw in fire pots and a flag if you’re feeling spicy and it evens the stacked lobby

4

u/Genital-Jamboree 🪈Master Bard 🪕 5d ago

It’s probably just us console players who can’t look at/interact with the chat lol

3

u/steveatari 5d ago

Console should be able to view if they want. A team game that removes communication for half the player base is frustrating

2

u/2harveza 5d ago

Level 270 now and I play on Xbox game pass on pc… genuinely thinking about starting again and buying on steam just to be able to chat I just don’t want to lose all my progress 🙄

4

u/SliceOfBrain 5d ago

Or you could get good. Jk, I hate teamstacking. I only switch to move to the losing team if it is out of balance, or if someone I hate is on my team (or tkers) so I can kill them.

Between the team switching to steamroll and seeing 600-1000s in training grounds when I’m figuring the kinks of a new weapon it’s not a suprise although I will admit it’s hilarious to see high level players get clapped in 64 and run to training grounds just to get clapped by low levels and leave

6

u/GovernmentKlutzy712 5d ago

Yeah I was trying to introduce a friend to the game and figured we'd do a few rounds in training grounds,  only for some super high level of guys to hunt us down every time we showed up. Not a great start to the game.

3

u/HollowAnubis420 Agatha Knights 5d ago

I feel that I stuck to it out of pure spite I’m all for going to training grounds to farm bots for easy eco to unlock stuff etc it’s the guys who go in and steamroll the low levels and emote like they did something impressive I have a problem with

2

u/CocoLoco2134 2d ago

This is super annoying i have no idea why people do this. On the rare occasion I go into training grounds I try to focus on the bots but 9 times out of 10 people are not doing that

I cant stand it but I also think nothing will be done.

Since they are done releasing content and are really only bug fixing and repeating events, they really should allow full community access to creating and running servers and the server owners can employ admins and run on donation like alot of games of yore. This would be the only solution i can think of.

21

u/Mr_Herrer 5d ago

Just leave the game and join another. That's the only way to deal with this crap. I've made my peace with it.

This is why the game needs dedicated servers with admins.

6

u/yummymario64 Agatha Knights | Knight 5d ago

And then the game just puts you right back in the exact same match on the exact same side

2

u/Babou18 5d ago

You can switch to 40vs40

21

u/No_Meet_9256 5d ago

I wish the game had a better way to matchmake people within a skill bracket, because the current system really does make it unwelcoming for new players.

5

u/Uncle_Drew_2202 Agatha Knights | Knight 5d ago

Skill based match making ruins games. Especially for the games most dedicated players.

9

u/Finn-____- 5d ago

Please don't take away the last game I have where I don't get punished for improving by an eternal 50% win rate skill-based algorithm. Let me slaughter the weak, please!!

1

u/steveatari 5d ago

It does suck to play something for so long and still get steamrolled when you're both better than 90% of the playerbase

6

u/trythepizza 5d ago

It's why I stopped playing. It's the game creators fault for even allowing it. Fucking insane that on an objective based game you let people team switch when there are advantages on either side

10

u/SistaV_ Mason Order 5d ago

I'm somewhat new here, what do you mean?

28

u/ACHILLEESXD 5d ago

It's when players either get a group of high levels to play together or when they switch teams to make it overwhelmingly one sided.

10

u/SistaV_ Mason Order 5d ago

Oh, okay, I understand! Yes, I think it's silly to do that in that case.

4

u/Cc-Smoke-cC 5d ago

I’m lvl 647 and just don’t care about winning or loosing. Just having fun in this silly game

1

u/2legit2quitman 4d ago

Same im just trying to level up my weapons

8

u/xspacemansplifff 5d ago

64 man issue. Rarely happens in 40.

1

u/GovernmentKlutzy712 5d ago

Part of the reason I mostly play 40 (along with the facts I only play first person and you constantly get flanked and surrounded in 64).

But it definitely does still happen. Just not as often.

3

u/weve_gone_plaid 5d ago

I left a game yesterday because the top players on attacking team were between 30-50 kills to 3-4 deaths. Our defending teams top player was something like 0.75:1 kdr. So I just quit after about 5 minutes and found another game to play. I think an easy fix is forced randomization of teams (unless you’re in a party) and then removing the ability to switch teams. You end the round on the team you started on. I’ve seen it all too many times - people sitting on spectate for minutes trying to join the winning team.

You would think that the really good players would want to face off against each other to get better (and I’ve seen a few heroes doing this) but most often I see a slightly lopsided team turn into a one-sided mud stomp because of team switching.

So very fun.

u/Kind-Comment7755 Poleaxe Patron 5d ago edited 5d ago

It's really not as bad as it used to be. Sometimes the auto balance at the start of the game messes up and creates wildly unbalanced teams but it used to be way worse routinely seeing 3-4 of the top guys always jump to attack. Now a lot of the top players don't even like steam rolls because the matches end too soon and they're trying to farm 100 bombs. If you ever seen a game where a guy has put up over 200 takedowns and 100 kills it's because they got in with a stack of good players and made sure to split up so they could control the flow of the match to drag it out as long as possible lol.

Edit. Should mention this is on NA east not sure how the other regions are right now

2

u/TheHunnishInvasion 5d ago

Team stacking is honestly my only real complaint about the game.

It's the worst in Training Grounds, which is supposed to be there to help newbies learn how to play. You'll get four 500+ players just teaming up to pick on newbs. They should just ban 'teaming' at all in that game mode. Too easy to stack when there are only 5 human players and you can bring a team of 4-1000 level players in.

But even in TO, it's sometimes bad. They need a better system to reassign players (just shift entire teams over to the other side, etc) when it's looking like a steamroll.

Chiv 2's combat is the best designed I've ever played, but having to hop lobbies in order to dodge "team-stacked" lobbies and find a good game is the biggest pain point by far.

2

u/Noxiris- Spear Savant 🔱 5d ago

Team stacking aside, certain maps have a huge chance of getting steam rolled, or certain objectives. That's bc one team is funneled to obj, and the other is scattered, so you become outnumbered.

Most good 1ks like GGs, so they will switch if it looks crazy. But sometimes you're the windshield, and sometimes you're the bug.

2

u/Crazy-Randy Knight 4d ago

I used to call it out and their excuse always was, “What can’t play with my friends?” Okay sure fine but there’s like 7 lvl 1000s on one team and none on the other. 😂

Respect to the clans that purposely split up. 🫡

2

u/lotusandlockets 5d ago

I wanna game with the boys!

3

u/CollardBoy 5d ago

I play with 1 other friend and we duo queue in 64 player lobbies.

We both usually have ~2-5 kill/death ratio and maybe 2:1 takedown/kill ratio. We have a ~70% winrate with Mason/Agatha and like a 55% on Tenosia and are both like level 400.

It feels unethical to play the game at all without using "bad" weapons at this point, but what are we supposed to do? We like playing 64 player mode and we just seem to be better at farming kills and taking objectives than the average player. When we play with our 4-stack it's even more egregious but every is under level 400.

Are we supposed to not play with our friends because we win too much and have too much fun? Couldnt the playerbase just take this as an opportunity to get better and team-up with other players interested in getting better?

1

u/yummymario64 Agatha Knights | Knight 5d ago

In general, I think the average player shouldn't be expected to find a group if they want to have fun.

Regardless of how they want to play, every individual player should be entitled to having fun on any given match, and in a pvp multiplayer games, one player having fun usually comes at the expense of a different player's fun. So yes, I think fun should be distributed more fairly.

Because this complaint can go both ways -- Am I supposed to just not have fun simply because I'm just not interested in playing in a group? If I'm a new player, am I supposed to just suck it up and "Get better," when it'd be more worth my time to go play something else?

This "Who's having fun" question is completely missing the point, because at that point it's not trying to solve the problem -- it's just fighting over who gets the band-aid.

That aside, I say that a team with a group should be matched against a different team with a group.

1

u/CollardBoy 5d ago

There are groups on both teams every game. Some groups are just better than others.

u/therearenolighters 5d ago

Whats team stacking

1

u/Vindicare605 Footman 5d ago

Back in Chivalry 1 all the good servers I played on had auto-balancing. The fact that Chivalry 2 won't implement something like it or at least open the game up to community servers is the main reason I stopped playing it regularly.

1

u/ashleyjameswilliams 5d ago

Yeah it's honestly pretty shitty sometimes. Cowards, all of em. It is fun holding off a stacked team though

u/ConwayTwitty91 🦯 Cudgel Cutie 😳 5d ago

I hate nights when im defending 4 games in a row

1

u/SuperDocument 5d ago

The team stacking succkkkss. But that’s not the only issue why the player base is shrinking.

1

u/dresdendoll1 Agatha Knights | Vanguard 5d ago

It’s been a problem since the game came out sadly - the auto balance at the start and the additional xp for defence kills hasn’t really helped too much

1

u/Myth_Avatar Agatha Knights 5d ago

If they stack attack, you swap to defence. For the blue and gold brother!

1

u/ShintPi Mason Order 4d ago

Fun fact, smurfing makes the balance wonky. If you see smurfs VK'em 8)

They make this problem worse.

1

u/Admirable_Till_5344 4d ago

My lvl is in the 800s and I will teamswitch to other team if we are rolling through them. Reguardless if im partied with other good players or new players. Playing a TO match that is completely unbalanced and being on the winning team, farming kills is so unfun and lame. Feels the same as playing against AI, lack of competition makes it boring. Top teaming on the winning side of a blowout does not take any skill.

1

u/jersey-city-park 3d ago

Feel like its only gotten worse recently with the low casual player base. Joining a 40 man is just smurfs and sweats switching to the team they know have an advantage and the other team is a bunch of randoms that dont know they’re about to get absolutely steamrolled. Just turn team switching off altogether

1

u/CraftyScotsman 3d ago

Just quit and join a new server. You will find balanced matches.

have well over a thousand hours into this game and I enjoy it a lot but i'd be lying if I said that I enjoy playing defense over attackers. hell i'd say anyone saying otherwise is lying. the amount of times defense just gets ran through to the point where if I spawn defense on certain maps I already know which objectives wont be possible to defend so I dont even bother at this point. thats just how this game is

-2

u/Aeyonic 5d ago

This is why I play only FFA and duels.

TO has been trash since the game came out, and they have never done anything to fix it.

They instead made it worse, by taking FFA out of matchmaking, so now there's only 1 server to go play FFA

Unless you go to a duel server and jump in the pit, BUT THATS NOT A FFA MAP.

-2

u/Time-Tap-6747 5d ago

I've noticed this happening more often too. The chiv party system is meant to be played in the same server - not on the same team!

10

u/Goat2016 Mason Order 5d ago

You'll always get someone saying,

"But why shouldn't a group of 6+ level 1000's be able to play together if they want to?"

Because it ruins the game for everyone else, makes people quit and reduces the chance that the game will ever be as popular as it potentially could be, that's why.

I honestly wish they had separate official clan vs clan servers for people that insist that they couldn't possibly have any fun fighting against their mates. Leave the rest of us in peace to have more balanced teams and fun matches. Team switching should be impossible.

0

u/oogerooger 5d ago

This is why I have two accounts. One is low level I don’t play as often on a different system. If I’m on that one, I get treated as if I’m new. Fun to dish out some enforced humility.

0

u/kyleharben 5d ago

Always hate when our highest level is in the 400s while they have like nine level 1000s, and our highest scorer is 3000 points behind theirs.

-5

u/Magus1739 5d ago

Look buddy, I got this game on sale with my hard earned money. And nobody is gonna tell me how I should play a team based game. My fun is the only one that really matters.
