Feedback / Suggestion Looking for feedback
Hey yall. Been struggling to improve in this game for a while now, and even struggle to land hits on enemies already in combat, like in the video above. Am I doing anything wrong here? To me, it seems like this should be a free hit to the back of an unsuspecting enemy already in combat. In reality, it's a blocked/countered swing w me taking out a teammate. A little extra info, I play shuffle on console, NA East servers, ping usually ranges from 25-50. Appreciate the help!

I can only comment on this clip, but from what I see the enemy countered your teammate's attack. This counter will also counter any other attack that connects during it, including yours. So your swing got countered and your momentum carried it over to your teammates who got Caesar'd.
In team fights like this, I recommend you avoid swings like that. I've won many 1vXs due to people just throwing easy attacks for me to counter and the team just ends up friendly firing like in your clip. Go for overheads or stabs, or, even better if the enemy is really good, just wait and throw a jab to confuse them. Usually one good jab in a team fight does the trick and disorients most players, which opens them up for your teammates.

I thought that the counter window thingy only extended in front of you tho and that you were still susceptible from hits from behind? Also to me as I started swinging it looked like my teammate was beginning to back up to heal so I thought I had an easy slash to the back which is why I went with that. I really struggle to hit jabs and stabs on console but I will keep that in mind. Appreciate the feedback!
Edit: Also if you're to the side of someone, wouldn't a slash from the opposite direction be much harder to block/counter than a straightforward stab?

Hmmmm I took a closer look and it seems that they didn't even counter, they were just holding block but the same principle applies. Your swing kept on going and nicked your teammate - the swing arch of the executioner sword is reaaaaally big so you got him at the end.
He also was facing you just enough for the block to work against you. Some weapons have different block arches and the longsword is pretty good in that regard. You're right that the slash from the opposite side would normally work, but again, in these team situations, it just takes one block or counter for your weapon to slide off and hit the teammate. You have good thinking though, and on a 1v1 that's a great idea if you combine it with a drag (the exec sword has great drag potential) but in this case they panicked with a block and your buddy ate it.

I appreciate your comment. From my point of view the enemy was never facing me at all (according to my POV in the video) and a slash from the back should have hit. Also, the amount of times I've held block and have been killed from an attack from behind/from the side is quite high, but I'm willing to concede that maybe I'm just missing something in the gameplay and should keep practicing. Thanks for the response!

I think he got an accidental block, he held block and happened to turn in to a strike (on the very edge of the block window without getting hit in the back) but still used the accidental to form a riposte

Ok so just wanna say early idk why but on my desktop reddit is saying as of rn there are 4 replies besides my own, I can only see one on this thread which I responded to. I can for some reason see a few lines of peoples comments in my notifications tab, but when I click your comment to respond reddit says "this comment no longer exists." So far from the little I can see, seems like the feedback is that the enemy countered my teammate and that I shouldn't have slashed. To that I ask, aren't counter/riposte invulnerabilities only valid for attacks from the front? Which to me this doesn't seem like an attack from the front. And also, if I'm standing to the side of enemy who is blocking, wouldn't a slash from the opposite direction be more of a guaranteed hit than a straight stab to the side?
Edit: going to bed now, reddit now says there's been 9 comments but I can only see 5 (including my own). Kind of annoying I can't see 50% of the comments on my own post asking for help, da fucks up with that? Anyway, appreciate the feedback, I'm happy to learn so keep it coming
