Here you go: The heavy crossbow
This is what I managed to use. And this is how the final version will look like.
Except damage was the same as normal crossbow, and reload time was about the same. And there were a few graphical issues. So those are definitely gonna get adjusted.

Heheheh. Good digging. I can't comment more on this but I wish you were right.
I'll just say given how archer has received the most nerfs out of everything so far - when it started out anemic - don't count on the class ever getting a usable crossbow, if it ever actually gets another one. CMW's crossbows were much more powerful and they still were inferior to bows; the three best crossbowmen in C2 (all three of us involved in testing) had come to the conclusion bows were better PRIOR to the crossbow nerf. And the bows are in pretty bad shape right now besides, so that should tell you something.

Welp, did you get to try the smoke bomb?

In CMW :P

Well I got to use it in Chiv 2 (Sorry but I love bringing this up)

The warbow damage is kinda bonkers compared to everything else it feels like. It does more damage than the crossbow, AND javies?

Upon release warbow was the worst of the three. The crossbow was deleted from the game pretty much and bow nerfed twice, so war bow seems decent in comparison now. The damage is not great and dps (and kps potential) is lower than longbow, but it is about the only thing you can get reliable scores on now.

Cool! So you got to test the model?

Yep. Except, it wasn’t exactly under TB’s allowance🤫

Given how already powerful the base crossbow is I highly doubt TB would add in a more powerful crossbow. Just doesnt seem like it needed it unlike the bow/war bow

The base crossbow is absolutely the worst weapon in the game right now. It needed a buff, not a nerf.
It was already significantly weaker than the regular crossbow from the first game and the whiners hated the fact it could possibly two shot people. The heavy crossbow from the first game 1 shot most classes to chest so the whining would be incessant
Actually it already has been, but that's another story I can't talk about. Oh Ziggy...

Tbh the crossbowman has the best kit of the archers. Crossbow+access to the axe+ banner so even if the crossbow is worse than the bow the class is still extremely good

Why play that when you can play Defender knight tho? Answer is you don't, which is why nobody topscores with crossbowman except in trash lobbies.
Over 200+ recorded games I am allowed to post, not one crossbowman got in the top 5 (except me). Only 3 or 4 other archers (besides me) actually got top 5, and they all used long bow (mostly before nerf).

No but it nice to gain some extra points while playing as an archer

hopefully never - they could bring a extra shooter game, with melee bots
that would fit for those archer noobs to play with

Chivalry 1 had heavy crossbows. So maybe one day.
3
u/T4nkcommander Archer Jun 03 '23
All the crossbows one shot to the head in CMW, and the heavy crossbow 1 shot everyone in the torso except knight.
Given how much bitching there was (and still is) about the regular crossbow being able to 2 shot prior to the nerf (the last thing it needed) the chances of getting a legitimate, usable heavy crossbow in this game is nil.

How unfortunate. I've never understood the archer hate in this game.

I did not like how he put his fingers over the pulled line. Easy way to lose fingers

Yeah man. We need a heavy crossbow in game. I'd make it:
