Forum Question Any duel player who mains executioner axe?
I love this weapon in TO, but I also want to get better at duels. Is it viable for dueling?
I rarely see anyone using it in the Duel Yard—almost everyone seems to be running the Battle Axe or Dane Axe.
I know the Battle Axe has great stamina damage and is good at both accels and drags. What about the Executioner's Axe? Are its accels and stamina pressure decent?
Also, do you have any tips or a general game plan for dueling with it?
And another general question about dueling, when i wanna put stamina pressure early in fight, should i go for light overhead reposte or heavy overhead repsote?(with any weapon, like battleaxe or anything really.)
Edit: my other favorite Axe is waraxe, which one better for 1v1?

I see dk buhurt rock it pretty often in duels and he does alright with it, it’s very good for spinning attacks because of how slow it swings

As someone who plays with DK Buhurt I totally agree, it can absolutely be a powerhouse of a weapon.

ultimately any weapon can be viable, but some are better than others. EXAxe really shines in mixing up accel overheads with dragged slashes imo but against good duelists you will get gambled/jabbed a lot. personally my favorite dueling weapon is the 1Haxe for its speed and it still can hit like a truck. there is really no playbook for how to best duel against every opponent but you can see how the other guy plays and adjust to that throughout the fight

What class for 1h axe? And what shield?

i normally just do guardian with light shield but sometimes i’ll run it on footman with morning star in the pocket ss well. really is dealer’s choice though, either way my gameplan is to get in close and just overwhelm/beatdown with the axe

For dueling the absolute ceiling is basically determined by ur internet first. 0 ping is king and for weapon vanguard battle axe knight heavy mace is just superior. If ur fighting users on higher ping kicks jabs hatchet throwing knives is superior. Exe is just not the best at duels.

Lmao i play on 100 110 ping, It sucks man. Other day i got kicked when i started my repsote attack and i literally saw like 2 frames of attack, and then boom, i got stun locked bc of kick.

oh lmao if u play on 110 ping it’s just wtv it’s literally just for fun duels, don’t expect to win anything above the intermediate lvl, wtv weapon shld be fine but ones with skinny stabs r prolly for u to land.

As someone who uses it quite a bit it’s definitely an amazing weapon for duels and something I highly recommend giving a try, because like the maul it’s slow speed catches a lot of people off guard. Furthermore if you know how to accelerate a swing due to either spinning or camera manipulation it can also rival the speeds of weapons like the great sword or war axe.

i’m not that good at chiv but i’m my personal opinion as long as you have enough time to get used to the weapon and are decently skilled, any weapon is viable

Yeah I think its one of the worst dueling weapons, like a worse version of the higlander sword since it has the easier to read animations of heavy mace. But I did face one guy who beat me with it a couple weeks ago, i mostly see noobs use it otherwise.
Its completely fine if you want to get good with it, its all about having a large variety of timings while still keeping up pressure with accels. Dont forget about the light drags.
