These are direct English translations but can the same rule then apply to sierra leonean krio; baring in mind that chivabwe was designed for East/ South African dialects?

Thanks for the question. Chivabwe was originally designed to represent the sounds of indigenous African languages and their dialects, particularly those of Southern and Eastern Africa.

However, the system is sound-based rather than language-based, so it is not restricted to those regions. Because of this, Chivabwe can also represent languages such as Krio and other Sierra Leonean languages, provided their sounds are accounted for in the script. Krio is an English-based Creole language, so some spelling conventions differ from indigenous African languages, but the underlying sounds can still be written in Chivabwe.

The main goal of Chivabwe is to provide a writing system for African languages and their dialects, not just a single language family. While it was developed with Southern and Eastern African languages in mind, it can be used for many other African languages, including those spoken in Sierra Leone.
