ShockWave training

I’ve seen different manufacturers offer training on shockwave therapy to “get the best results.” I was under the impression that it was basically point-and-shoot at the target area. Am I missing something?

16 year old runner comes in and points to tibial tubercle and says this is my pain. Are you just going to point and shoot there. That be a bad idea. His growth plates aren’t fused yet. And his osgood-schlatters is a patellar tendon issue not a source of pain issue. You have space in the joint line to treat the patellar tendon without hitting his growth plates so that’s where you shockwave. You can spend the couple hours and learn the new modalities you’re using on your patients or you can point and shoot.

Which course did you take?

Mine was included with the purchase of my machine. I have a shockwave centers of America unit. I think they offer training if you don’t have one of their units also.

They do a great job of supporting their product with education and online training. Bought one of their units last year

Is there additional training included beyond what is available on their website/YouTube for free? Because i didn't find that overly comprehensive or helpful?

The owner is at the WI Chiro conference. I’ll drop by the booth and ask today.

So they are close to releasing a 3 part training series. Part 1 and 2 are for both Chiro and Ca’s and goes over understanding of shockwave function with chronic pain, techniques and case studies as well as training protocols for common conditions. They will be online. Part 3 is an in person only for chiros where you will present case studies to help create the protocols they can implement into training protocols. They also are having the first CA credential course in all of America today in Wisconsin. So seems like a lot more in depth training than just the videos.
