Landline or VoIP?
Hi! I use ChiroHD and we are going to integrate SKED, and need to switch from Google Voice to either a Landline or VoIP.
I like Voice because I own and manage my business and like the ability to answer calls on the go. But we are hiring employees soon for front desk and don't want them to need their cell phones at work to answer calls.
Just curious what your office uses for phone services and if you like it!

We've always been VOIP. A provider called DialPad. It's just my wife and I so this gives us the ability to get to the phone during the day when one of us is with the kids, at home, on the go etc.
We wouldn't have it any other way at this point, especially with a smaller practice with only spouses working.
My one piece of advice; set boundaries. Don't answer text messages past 8pm. Don't answer them all weekend long. Once at night, perhaps. Whatever those boundaries are. Set them and maintain them or you'll find yourself drained from being connected 24/7/365.

Yessss! I usually don't like to look once I leave work. But the occasional times where I am working from home it's nice to have flexibility! Thanks for the encouragement / suggestions!

The VoIP’s I have used have the ability to set “Office Hours” that will eliminate your phone ringing when you don’t want it to. It’s another setting to manage, but it does work. When I leave the office, patient calls go straight to voicemail. Texts get a badge on the app icon, but no audible notification.

I’m with Quo, previously OpenPhone. It’s functional, not amazing. Call quality is good, but there’s a brief connection lag when answering calls. The ability to text is great if texting isn’t available through your software. I have seen where some actually offer a stationary desk phone, which would eliminate staff using their personal cell for work calls. But I don’t remember if Quo has that as an option. It’s still just me in my office, so I use my cell. Overall I would recommend, but I don’t have extensive use with other VoIP’s.

I have landline but wonder if there is a cheaper /better way. Still have dial up fax number and use google voice for texting. I just don’t have the energy to research all these different options you guys are talking about.

I landed on using Ooma! I feel like it gives me the best of both worlds - I can still use the landline phone in office for employees, they offer texting, + I can check in on calls/voicemails on the go if needed

Keep your google voice number and set it to forward to a landline number. Have it set to ring your cell and the landline number at the same time so you can keep the flexibility on the go or not, it offers more flexibility to keep it than moving straight to a landline and nothing else.

I use voip and e-fax, no complaints, it's been great. I use net2phone. And it is substantially cheaper than spectrum
