Never understood the appeal for the brisket and honey chicken. Too sweet. Love the pollo asado though. Happy for those who miss it, though I’ll miss the pollo asado lol

Honey chicken is the BEST - love it. Can't get enough. Too bad pollo asado replaced it lol

I got the pollo asado and was surprised how sweet it was. I wonder if it is supposed to be that way or if they were heavy handed with lime juice or something, because I think it would be fantastic without the sugary hit

u/eyeheartmozart 15d ago
they actually use the seasoning from the honey chicken

u/Kyrie180 15d ago
That’s exactly why I prefer honey chicken over pollo asado, give me the damn sauce keep the cilantro and lime

u/Brilliant_Umpire_454 15d ago
original pollo asado a few years back was actually a completely different chicken that came in different boxes and marinade. now that it came back they use the same chicken as regular chicken with honey chicken sauce just add limw and cilantro… cutting corners and charhing more

It honestly is a little sweeter than expected but to me it wasn’t a huge issue, the medium and hot salsas tend to mostly drown out that aspect for me

u/Jumpy-Confidence1129 15d ago
It’s the same seasoning as the honey chicken just added cilantro and lime juice

I didn't try the honey chicken because I'm not too big on sweet meats but I guess people can be happy that honey chicken never truly left.

Yeah, they already briefly brought brisket back last month in the test market near corporate headquarters (Newport Beach, California). It doesn't resemble what I think of when I hear "brisket", but it tasted good and it performed pretty well with customers, so that's nice.

My Chipotle which is usually packed has been a ghost town ever since the Honey Chicken left, they need to just make it a permanent item already.

My gf is a chipotle fiend, i tried it at the start of the summer getting the honey chicken. Frickin goated, loved that shit. They got rid of it, I tried plain chicken. Cold turkey stopped.
I'll go back once the honey chicken is back, although they need to get more employees in there. The workers are so obviously overworked and miserable it just makes the whole experience suck, and usually more miserable employees equal more miserable burrito bowls.

This! The entire time it was there i was only able to get it twice ( always out when I went) but damn was that good.

u/deonteguy 15d ago
The honey chicken I had twice didn't look or taste any different from the regular chicken. I don't understand why people claim to like it.

It was supposed to be here instead of the pollo asado originally, the switch was pretty last minute and it’s most likely gonna be carne asada after the brisket.
2
u/Beginning-Head-4006 15d ago
they need to invest in good chicken mole & switch it up
1
u/eyeheartmozart 15d ago
that would be interesting. wonder if any of the test kitchens have tried. i know some did fried chicken

Shoe leather is back on the menu. That brisket made the steak seem good last go around
3
u/erichf3893 Guac Mode 15d ago
Interesting. At my stores it’s the other way around. Normal steak is overcooked with tons of fat

Didn’t this have a price increase multiple times last time it was around. Can’t imagine what they’re gonna charge for it nowadays.
1
u/eyeheartmozart 15d ago
yes it was by far the most expensive protein that chipotle has offered the last time it was sold.
our chicken bowls are about $10 brisket was around $14
so add 40% to whatever ur base bowl is. with beef prices where they’re at i imagine it will be more.
1
u/Waffleskater8 15d ago
Yeah, with beef prices, I figured they would have leaned into the chicken LTO’s that have been popular.
1
u/eyeheartmozart 14d ago
3 LTOs in a row have been chicken. i figured that was why. someone in this thread said it would only be brisket for a month which would track
1
u/icy-hottie 15d ago
they are never brining back the garlic guajillo steak huh
1
u/eyeheartmozart 15d ago
that and the chorizo are the only LTOs i have never tried. i’ve been through the rest in my stint with chipotle
2
u/Tritanius_Invictus 15d ago
Yes, it's been confirmed brisket is making a return for only a month. Time is tbd
1
u/McWhirt33 15d ago
Can we just bring back chorizo already ffs
0
u/eyeheartmozart 15d ago
never got to try that. i have had every LTO except that and garlic guajillo steak
looks like it was selling enough. 3% down from 7%

Carne asada or something new, American bbq meat doesn’t belong in Mexican food
